SONY ERICSSON CELLPHONE OWNERS!!! READ HERE.. Rogers wireless...
Got a Sony Ericsson Cell phone that won't let you download your own ringtone? Perhaps your service provider LOCKED IT?? Or you bought the new w580i and you can no longer RECORD your own ring tones because your provider figured that loophole out too....
then READ THIS.. I found a loop hole, that I DIDNT think existed before now!!!! All you have to do is....
Download this Program...
MP3 Ringtone Extractor Free off www.downloads.com
then you get to create your own ringtone, whereever you want it to start in a song, wherever you want it to end, its UP to you, any mp3 song can be converted and this is all FREE!!! Then make sure it says it will convert to a .wav file at the bottom of the program, and then click EXTRACT!
Now transfer it to your phone via the data cable you received with the phone, and you got your ringtone.
STOP PAYING for ringtones!
STOP dealing with locked phones by your service providers.
THIS IS ALL FREE!!
The converting program, mp3 files can be downloaded on the web that are free, and you're transferring is FREE!!!
P.S. You can convert it to an .acc file type but I haven't tried that because the .wav files work just fine...
I'm with rogers wireless, and I have the w580... I used to have the w810 where I would just record my ringtones thrugh the voice recorder, but with the w580 and w810's with newer software they figured out that plan and blocked that file type from being used as a ringtone, so I called Sony and I got this tip!!!!Last edited by hayden1107; Sep 16th, 2007 at 05:51 PM.

I have unbranded my W300i with a Hong Kong firmware... free! Just use the attached cables, and download the firmwares from topsony.com. Get the free softwares from http://forums.se-nse.net/index.php?act=home to do the flashing.

Service Providers IE Rogers/Fido do NOT lock the ringtone function of the phone. The software made by Sony Ericsson designed for north american carriers has the lock put in it, where as software for other markets do not.
You want a ringtone? then PAY for it you cheap downloading bastard.

yes, tad harsh to the n00b. I thought RFD we try to help each other out, not flame people for being 'behind the times'??
and who do you think sets the parameters for what the software does??
Exactly..the providers
.
Not sure why you're bringing this 'higher than thou' attitude here on RFD., but I for one don't appreciate it. Here on RFD we like to help each other out., and yes even when it's a n00b., a little extended courtesy-and extra patience goes a long way when helping someone out.
The industry has been built to nickle and dime everybody for every little keystroke on their cellphone, RFD is about saving people money. Treatz, and the other mods on Rogers forum, even ALLOW the threads about MP3 ringtone unlocking to continue, so not sure where you get the idea that it's wrong to save a couple bucks to put on their own ringtones/games/themes/etc etc.
I think you need to chill out and be nice to this n00b-and provide a link for a whole bunch of apps
.
My $0.02, there are yet many THOUSANDS of people who are still discovering for the first time about hofo, and RFD, so cut them some slack if they're painfully behind the times
.
@ OP, enjoy your little 'h4ck'...this is just the tip of the iceberg in cellphone mods available
. Go with motorola and you'll be LOST at the various things you can do to your cell
.

Well if you are saying that to release classified information, then so be it, thats a Catch 22, no one will say ur wrong because no body wants to breach their NDA, and no body will say your right because no body wants to breach their NDA too. So thanks.
Secondly, RFD is not here to "circumvent" companies and businesses by telling consumers how to get their products and or services for "Free" No, thats not the moral of RFD. RFD is how to Help Consumers find "Great Deals" that are usually Not Advertized widely. Instead of telling people how to "Screw Rogers" and get Ringtones for "Nothing" you should be positng about when Rogers offers "Free Ringtone Promotions" so customers can still get the ringtones they want, get them for Free or cheap, and NOT have to interfere with companies such as Rogers losing profits. Because if it wasnt for Rogers in the business of cellphones, we'd all be on Telus and Bell and we'd be even more Screwed, so you should be thankfull. Amen.
