They need to drop it by another $400 to make it a deal, this thing flopped more than the PSP Go.

Very stylish netbook but the small but sharp screen, lack of trackpaf, and very sluggish CPU not to mention premium price made it a failure. I hope they create another iteration.

Mainly because it was priced WAY out of line - something like a grand (originally) for a netbook?

Note that it is a slower Atom in this thing (*not* 1.6GHz).
There is a Sony coupons thread around that will take another $50 off (as well as free shipping) here (search for it).Last edited by Montague; Mar 12th, 2010 at 05:26 PM.

I think they had the right idea for creating a small stylish netbook when every other manufacturer was coming out with generic white book designs like the original Eee PC or the Aspire One. But the high price is definitely turning people away as people getting netbooks would consider price to be an important factor.

Sticking Vista on this thing was the other major problem (Vista was the original O/S supplied with it last year instead of XP).
2GIG of memory + slower Atom CPU (1.33 instead of 1.6GHz) = bad news.
edit:
Just realized why XP was not used - Microsoft has put limitations on what hardware can be used with XP on netbooks (eg screen resolution)Last edited by Montague; Mar 12th, 2010 at 06:16 PM.

$599 should of been the price when it first came out. Albeit its still expensive, but hey, its overpriced Sony.

IIRC, the display on these was way too high res for the size and didn't seem to have good contrast.
