Sony RX100 uses a 1.5 amp plug charger. Also, a question.

A replacement is not easy to find, it seems. Most cell phones use a 2amp. What should I do / Contact Sony?

Also I find interesting that best buy carries the official Sony RX100 rechargeable battery, but I didn't see a charger to match?

You can pay a lot of money or effort to find a Sony charger or just buy a separated battery charger which makes your life easier anyways plus remove your other problem of a USB cable.

Some of these even come with extra batteries, I'm pretty happy with my batteries and chargers from these brands -

Here's the official battery charger. Official in that it's from Sony and it charges the X battery, along with few other types. You can also use it as the AC charger (charges the battery while inside the camera), but it won't charge two batteries simultaneously.

Go the external battery charger route, any 2 amp 5 volt USB charger will charge your battery in camera.

Why not charge it with a usb charger directly connected to the camera? No need for a charger.

We come here looking for deals. We use the savings on the things we buy to justify buying more things, thus filling our homes with tons of unnecessary consumer products. Such is the key to happiness.

You're right and I'm quite surprised that Sony isn't doing anything about it. I have a RX100 MK V and the door hinge is very fragile. If I were to open it daily, I can imagine it'll be broken very soon. I love the idea of USB charging, but Sony needs to come up with a more durable solution.

Sorry to hijack the thread for a second. I'm looking at the RX100 series, pondering buying the Mark 5. Are there any cons? Would you buy it again? Thanks!
