Red & White Flag…
Anybody get their hands on the XZ yet? I see eBay shipping it from Taiwan and Singapore, just not sure how safe it is to buy through there.
If it's not free, it's too expensive...

I am done with Sony for now
Just can not see myself supporting a company releasing two very similar flagship phones in just 4 months (X performance - XZ)
Seriously what were they thinking? even Samsung (the worst when it to flooding the market) is better than this

This phone is bigger than Galaxy S7 yet packed with
-smaller battery
-lower res. screen (I do not mind on this one)
-less RAM (seriously? try to make somewhat different than your X performance)
-improved camera / video camera performance (compared to X Performance, not sure if this can beat S7 but highly doubt it)
-hefty price tag
XZ has stereo speakers compared to single on the S7, it also doesn't have a camera bump. They release 2 flagship a year because of Japan mostly.
Sony always had good battery management and it's powering a lower resolution screen so it doens't need as large battery.
Sure more ram is always better, but again using lower resolution you don't need as much ram.
Xperia Z series always had the best video stabilization.
price tag isnt bad if you order it from clove ~CA$800 including shipping. S7 launched at $900 same with Pixel.

I've always had the impression that Sony smartphones had very good power management and battery life. Really tempted to jump ship from my Nexus 6P to an Xperia XZ. Any reason why I shouldn't?
sony has great battery life, a very good camera in manual mode. the one thing i'd consider, if you're looking to put your phone in a case, their phones have a tendency to overheat and either the front or back plate will come unglue. my z3c did last summer and is currently hanging by the corner. i did put it in a case as its very slippery. never thought with the heat, it'll come unglue. worst of all, my G4 died so i'm stuck having to use this z3c as backup. its scary stuff. otherwise, they are great phones just some design flaws
Thanks, that's good to know. I was sorta eyeing the Sony Xperia XZ and just using it naked (without a case, not without clothes). Just hoping that Sony's standby time will hold up as i just shootout messages and read books throughout the day.
XZ doesnt have glass back so no worries of glass cracking or falling out.

re-using the same camera from x-performance with software "tweaks"
x-performance camera was underwhelming compared to s7 and probably ip7 as well now that it's out
getting real tired of sony re-using the same components over iterations, especially on flagships
Not just software tweaks, it has 2 extra sensors and 5 axis stabilization, instead of 3 axis on the Xp. They are using their best camera sensor that they have. They just need to do more tweaks with their software algorithm.
And S7 downgraded from a 16mp to a 12mp... lol

I chose royal mail. Stupid canada post doesnt track international packages anymore. But I should get it this week hopefully, and probably won't get hit with taxes.
Edit: are you going to get a case for it? I'm searching high and low for the Touch cover but no one is carrying it/has it in stock

Strange, in this electronic world, when you know something newer and better is always just around the corner. I've stuck with older phones, and don't lose enjoyment when something new comes out :) .

Ok, got the phone, wow it's solid, totally different feel than LG G3, feels like well built and more manly :)
Headphones came as well, surprised as I've heard Clove sends them some time after when they do such promos.

Got this tempered glass from them, but it says backordered on bill, so I'm guessing they'll ship later https://www.clove.co.uk/sony-xperia-xz- ... ered-glass
Also got these cheap cases and protectors just in case I can't find anything good, haven't shopped around for decent case yet, should get amazon ones this week.

If so I'm going to be hit by customs. It probably saves them shipping fees to ship together.

Still no one has stock of the Touch Cover case.

Just got the phone from Clove Tech as well, and was also hit $108 duties and taxes. Wished they had the option to use air sure mail, like when the z3 compact came out couple years back. Now here's hope that Pac Mall has some cases for this phone. Will update more on the phone later. Enjoy for now...

Thats pretty fast for Canada Post.
I picked fedex because CP is horrible for processing times, but maybe they got their act together now.
Wonder if ur gonna save on tax, my guess would be yes, good luck.
