Source Circuit City Issue -.-;;
Fun times with fun companies? This is a story of how part of my day went today =D
I recently made a purchase of an item from the source. (About $30.00, nothing too big)
I realized the other day it went down in price (this is a week after I purchased it.)
I called the store today and got a busy signal, so I called another TSCC in the city to ask them a question about a return.
My question "I purchased an item from TSCC, not your store, and don't have a receipt. I paid by credit card, is that store able to print me a new one if I go in and ask them?" "Yes, go into the store you originally purchased the item from, and they can look up the transaction and print you a receipt since you paid with a credit card" said the employee on the line.
I then tell the employee "I recently purchased this item, and it has gone down in price since. Do you offer price protection?" "Yes, you have 30 days" says the employee.
"Would I be able to price protect this, once I get the receipt from the store?" I ask.
"Yes, just make sure you bring the item in with you and you go to the store you purchased the item at, and you won't have a problem." says the employee
I thank the employee for their help and wish them a good day, and then hang up.
I knew in advance, that it was policy for TSCC to have the information kept in their computers when people made purchases with credit cards, as I've had to return an item without a receipt before to them once, and since I paid with my credit card, I had no problem.
I head out to run some errands, and walk into the store and wait my turn to be helped.
"I'd like to price protect this item please, I purchased it less than a week ago on my credit card, and it has gone down in price since." I say to employee one.
"Do you have your receipt?" asks employee one. "No, I lost track of it, but I paid with my credit card, so I know you can pull up the record and print me a copy, as an employee at another store told me that you could." I answer.
Employee two "We can't do that for you." Employee 1 "Sorry, we can't do that"
I mention to both of them I was speaking with an employee at another location who told me otherwise.
One of the employees answers back "We're free to set out own policies, and each store is different, we don't allow this."
I answer back "You can't just set your own policies, you're part of a chain and being part of a chain means that you have to follow every other stores policy. All stores have the same policies."
One of the employees answers back "Would Future Shop let you return something without a receipt? No? So why would we let you?"
I answer back "First of all, this is not Future Shop, this is TSCC, and different companies have different policies. I was told by someone from your company that this is your policy. Future Shop has nothing to do with this discussion."
One of the employees offers to call his boss, he takes his cordless phone, runs off into the back with it to his ear, and comes back out a few minutes later telling me his boss said no as well.
I ask if they asked the store manager, they told me yes. I then ask for the store managers name, and their district managers name and phone number.
The employee goes on to tell me that I can get the district manager's phone number from their website. The second employee corrects him luckily, and I get the phone number and names, thank them both politely, and tell them to enjoy their evenings.
Needless to say I'll be following up on this, and will post any new information I get.

I think the issue here are these TSCC employees, who are kids that just hate their jobs. If you get to talk to the real manager things may turn out better.

trust me man, TSCC is the WORST place to work....dont give them a hard time because they already have it tough as hell....minimum wage, commision is barely anything, and managers think they are the best in the world and set up their own rules....i worked there last december and it was the most horrible experience of my life..lol, if they are new there dont give them trouble...if they have been working there for more than a year, then they deserve it for not being smart enough to quit!:P:P

It's true that some of the stores are independently owned and therefore are free to set their own policies.

The stores that aren't actually stores, but are just dealer stores in small towns are allowed.
I eventually got this resolved, the regional manager gave me a refund of the difference, apologized, and said the employees would have a stern talking to.

Glad you got your refund!
Last Friday I get a call on my phone that went something like this:
caller: "Hi, is this xxx"?
me: "yes..."
caller: "ok, your online order is in-store, and ready to be picked up".
me: "who is this??"
caller: "oh, it's TSCC"
me: "oh.. ok.. thanks"
