I'm trying to find a low-end but decent laptop, i dont know about these though...
They would all need more ram than 1gb to run vista well and I'm sure there are 2x512mb sticks in there so you'd either have to replace both or just add a 2gb stick to one side.

I think the Asus one would be decent if it didnt have such a slow processor, i dont know if it justifies $100 more.

Is the "AMD Turion™ 64 Mobile Technology TK-36" on the compaq really supposed to be "MK-36"? (because doing a search on TK-36 just brings up a bunch of unrelated results).

Without knowing for sure how the processors compare and assuming the other two are 4 cell batteries compared to the 6 cell compaq, i'm thinking the compaq is the best deal, opinions?
