Thanks OP. I've been hoping to get the SLR one but I think I can get away with using one of these with my NEX as long as I keep a Sony E-mount lens on it, or something light. Might get both and test them out.
There doesn't seem to be any way to search for other in-store clearance items anymore - can't even tell if the other Joby models might be on sale. Time to go to the store, grab them all and ring them up...I'll update with my findings.

If you don't mind waiting a month for your tripod, dx.com (and other Chinese wholesalers who likely sell them for a dollar or two cheaper; I like dx.com since they tend to use HK Post and have decent customer service) has these for half the price. They're well reviewed from what I see and probably made in the same factory as the brand name models.
