Is spam luncheon meat safe to eat without cooking? Just wondering as I'd like to bring it to work as a snack.

Spam is a canned precooked meat product made by the Hormel Foods Corporation.
It is traditionally reheated (cooked), resulting in a different taste from Spam eaten by many Americans on the mainland, who may eat Spam cold.
if it's precooked then go for it! =D

You live in Canada, why on earth would you eat Spam when you have so much choice?
It's cheaper to buy fresh deli meat at Price chopper than it is to buy a can of Spam these days.

With tuna, canned turkey, ham, chicken, salmon, sardines, corned beef.......Spam is that last thing I would choose.

Some people actually enjoy the taste. I'm not one of them but still.....

Cut 'em some slack, at least he's not asking about this:

Yes, you maybe correct, but OP seem to like it, there is nothing wrong with that.

No nothing wrong with that but maybe if he/she was introduced to something different they might like it more......If they had my chicken salad sandwich made from the canned chicken they would forget all about spam

Not really not everyone like chicken sandwich. Some people just love the taste of Spam.

But hey!
it's a product of the US..the brains in grravyyy!

I would rather eat beef jerky or in my case soy jerky for lunch.
or a salad. I hate all canned meats.
If I had to keep food supplies that are non perishable I'd rather dried soy, fruits and vegetables.

You can eat the meat without cooking but is it really that SAFE to eat this in the first place? That is another question that may be pretty trivial. ;)

Spam is so popular in Hawaii they even have an annual Spam Jam.

No kidding, for some reason Hawaii is nuts for Spam. Cookbooks, festivals and a menu item on lots of restaurants.
