Honestly if it wasn't for the sheer awesomeness of the rest of the cast, I don't think I'd be able to watch this.
Yah I was having trouble buying into the new Spartacus.
Which is wierd because in the last series your introduced to Gannicus who's Character grows on you very quickly. I guess we'll see how the series goes. I really liked Gods of the Arena, but last nights episode I kind of thought was meh.

Gannicus will show up this season - but maybe not as a regular. That evil guy with the limp will show up as well.

lol, Ashur.
And Gannicus was awesome. I actually liked him . . . up until the point that he was ready to get it on with Doctore's wife.

Dissapointing episode but it was only the first one of the season so I expect they will get better. Not a fan of the new Spartacus so far but hopefully he will grow on me as the season goes on.

I thought it was a great episode.
New actor did alright. No one would step in the role and be thought of as "perfect" after the incredible job that Whitfield did.
New guy needs some time to grow into the role. He has a challenging task- because he's got to be the Spartacus that Andy Whitfield created, but he cant' just try to be what Whitfield was- he has to kind of make it his own thing too, while staying true to the original Spartacus form. If that makes sense. :-)
Anyway, he did good. He's not quite as buff as Whitfield.. and I wonder if he'll have the emotional range that Whitfield displayed... but, I think he did a good job. I am going to give him the benefit of the doubt. It's only been one episode... cut him a bit of slack.. let him grow into the role more, I'm sure he'll be fine.

Newbie
This new guy, Liam, doesn't seem as ripped as Andy was at the end of the first season. But the second ep was an improvement, I thought. I kept mumbling 'my c**k rages on' the other day and my roommate (who doesn't watch Vengeance) kept looking at me weird, haha. I should get him into it.

The BEST line ever was "Tiberius, I would finish. Place **** in ***." I didn't think the show could make me go "WTF?!" anymore, but I guess I was wrong.

It's difficult for Liam to bring the same things Andy did to Spartacus. Andy was able to be intense and ferocious yet show sadness and vulnerability in his eyes.

I thought the second episode was good, and find the new spartacus to be partially growing on me.
One thing though, did you guys notice more slow-mo than usual?

They're using some new camera this season that is capable of shooting in super-slo-mo so they're showing it off.

He definitely did! lol, I'd explain why, but that would get this thread locked.

Well, as I understand it, it was a normal occurrence back then. At least in Rome and Greece.
