I don't think BC and CA have reciprocal agreements with each other, but double check it though.
I would say you can just pay it and forget about it, the demerit points won't go to BC. If you want to contest it you can always do, but it will cost your more time and money.
But in any case don't just ignore it. You'll be in trouble next time in Cali.

Speeding ticket in California, anyone have experience?
I'm a BC Resident but I got ticketed by a cop when I was down there for a visit. He took my license reg etc and after a good month I finally got the ticket.
Can I ignore this ticket? I'm a bit upset since I feel how he got me was some form of entrapment since he tailgated me at night and it was a one lane highway so I felt "pushed" to go faster until I hit a place where it was safe to let him through.
Thanks for any feedback._______________

Exactly, unless you never want to drive back to Cali again, otherwise pay it or fight it.

Pay it and count yourself lucky.
I had a friend get a ticket for a rolling stop in CA and she just wanted to pay it... They made her appear in court.

I am not sure what will happen if you ignore it... BUT I do think tickets for the States get transfered over to Canada and you will have to pay it before you can get a new sticker (dont quote me on it cause I could be very wrong)
I also got my first ticket cause of a cop on my arse like that but I lost it on him when he pulled me over for speeding. I had never been such a Ahole to cop till that day and it was kinda ignorant too before I even started fliping out but he did rip up the ticket and let me go

You should try and check if California and BC have a reciprocal traffic agreement. I got a speeding ticked in NY State and the conviction showed up on my driver's abstract report. It didn't translate into demerit points but insurance companies don't care about demerit points. They care about traffic convictions regardless if there's points are not.

Sigh. That's what I thought. I'll eat the $170 and pay up I guess.
Thanks for the advise guys. According to the ticket, I have to pay up even if I fight it. I guess I get a refund if I win._______________
