As an avid comic reader and lover of comic continuity, One thing that didnt make sense was how Doc Ock was able to take Spideys punches. In comic contiunity he's just a normal guy with the arms, Spider always had trouble getting to him and when he did, all it took was a few punches to knock him out. He must have gotten punched about 10 times in the face in the entire movie, and in the comics he has been knocked out or dead because of it. Technically Spidey can lift around 10 tons and his punches are a few tons of force i'd imagine. The excuse that he 'holds' back his punches really isnt plausable since near the end at Ocks base, spidey goes nuts with punches to his head when they are both in the water. I guess it was impilied that Ock had gained super human endurance/strenght from the expirement gone awry or the arms, cause he was able to take a nice big fat dose of electricity at the end also....
There were a lot of other things bothering me about the movie, mostly nit picky things only someone into comics would know about though... One being they didnt at least introduce Gwen Stacy... Geez seems anyone having to do with the clone saga has been forgotten forever....

There's just some stuff in movies that is physically wrong, but need to be to add excitement, etc. Stuff like that don't bother me.
Movies would be boring if the laws of physics were always followed.
Like who would want to watch space battles in Star Wars with no sound?

Actually I think Kristen would have made a better Gwen Stacy than MJ.

Im going to see it again this weekend. As a Spider-Man fan for the past (gasp) 23 years I thought it was very good. I thought they were going a different way with the story when they : Spoilers below
He lost his powers, I thought they were going to either do the 6-armed Spider-Man from years ago maybe in the next movie, but then that would have to include the Lizard and Morbius.
There are so many story lines they could persue. I hope they keep it old style villians for a bit._______________
I'm going back to Cali, rising, surprising, Advising realizing, she's sizing me up - Her bikini - small; heels - tall - She said, she liked, the ocean
She showed me a beach, gave me a peach - and pulled out the suntan lotion

Does anyone think this movie could of used a better musical score?
It's been said before in many places, and I agree. This was such a great movie, but it really lacked anything memorable in terms of score.

Jul 7th, 2004 09:13 PM #82This movie needed some Hoobastank. Loads and loads of Hoobastank. Every frame should have been lathered in Hoobastank.

I know the thread is old but I finally got a chance to go see it. It was really good. The wife hated the first one and love this one. There's the good old barometer.

yeah, I thought it was alright. I hate first week crowds too.
It's funny how in this second one, everyone knows the real identity of Spidey (his best friend, Mary Jane, Doc Octopus, the passengers on the bus). While in the first one, no one knew who he was except Green Goblin

The answer is: I went to a wrong room. I wanted to watch another movie but went into this small room; cursing the threatre until the movie started .... and run ....
The other room is much bigger and had least people. Fortunately, both movies started at the same time. Hence, I did not miss anything.

I totally agree. I got a chance to watch Spider-Man 2 on DVD this past weekend. What a great movie...filled with so much eye-candy. It is really pretty to watch. But Doc Ock really took a lot of abuse in this movie but seemed impervious to everything, including a fall from the top of a clock tower onto a moving train!! Holy backbone, Batman!
As an aside, when I was watching, I got the distinct impression that people in Peter Parker's life know he is really Spider-Man. Aside from Harry Osborn and Mary Jane, both of whom saw Spidey unmasked, I think Aunt May and Robbie Robertson have figured out that Parker is really Spider-Man, just from the insinuation in their voices._______________

Yea..well it isnt about realism..see doc ock jus standing on his own 2 feet..then pick somthin really heavy up? That all on him..not usin 2 arms to brace himself..couldnt do that..an yea..spidey could prolly fall 30storys..itd hurt..mayb enot 30..but it prolly wouldnt kill him heh..proportionate to a spider..
