If I signed up for the one year "contract" is it limited only to that location or just limited to a one year contract with the company? I.e. what if I move residences in the next year (which I am planning on doing in Sept/Oct)..?
Can I just carry the service over to my new location and still be within that first year?

I really don't know. If they just disabled your PPPoE login it might, but that would be a big security breach on their end. Everyone could just put their Sympatico accounts on hold and order DSL from us for $5 per month.I have a few questions first,
I have Bell sympatico, but my account is on hold, but I still have my modem, can I still use your free dsl trial?...
And, will this trial expire by itself, or would I have to call in or something?...
thanks. I'm really intrested in signing up...
So I don't get sued: It's a Joke.
The trial will expire on it's own on June 1 2007
i have a sympatico modem, do i just change the username and passowrd on the modem?
That is correct.
Best Regards,

Please just give us 10 business days notice and we will move your service free of charge. First move is free. Ever other will cost you $25 dollars.

For anyone having any suspiscions/questions/confusions on this:
Everyone, as Acanac pointed out, that sells DSL in Ontario in Quebec is reselling a service provided by bell. There are 2 components to your connection:
1) The Line Sync, which bell handles.
2) The connection to rest of the internet, which is handled by whoever you login to via PPPoE. Techincally, if you have a network switch, you could be logged into 50 different ISPs via PPPoE - but that doesn't affect your speed, that's controlled by bell and your Line Sync.
Most sympatico modems have the option to put your user/pass in the modem directly, but they will also also simultaneous connections via Windows XP's PPPoE. So you could test out Acanac (or any other ISPs) service without actually changing anything on you modem (most new modems).
Of course if you are using a router you'll have to go in and put your Acanac login in there.
So the question arises: If all ISPs use the same lines, what difference does it make who I PPPoE login into?
Answer: Some isps have better routes/peers etc. than others. So even though ou might have a nice clean line sync the ISP (Sympatico, Acanac, IGS, or other...) might have crappy/overloaded servers on their end. So acanac is basically prodiving the opportunity to show you that their pipes are good... without you having to sign up first.
Also, you NEED to have line sync from another isp to try this. Bell won't give you (or anyone else) a line sync for free. It's a nice way to see if Acanac's service is fast though. In short, it doesn't matter who you're with, it's which login/password you use that determines which servers you connect to. Although it's entirely possible to have a bad line sync, but that would make it suck no matter which DSL reseller you were using._______________

Thanks ACANAC
I got the login info, switched the account, and to my surprise, I find the service little faster than Bell. If ACANAC service remain that good, I am definitely switching once my contract is up.

New to DSL
I've been using cable for the longest time. At this price, I am interested in switching to this service. What exactly is involved in switching to DSL? Do I just hook up a DSL modem and use an active login//password and I'm good to go, or do I need anything special activated on my phone line?

Here are some http://www.speedtest.net results I took.
I'm located in Gatineau/Ottawa, and tested to Toronto, ON & NY, NY.
using my Bell login & my trial Acanac login.
If you read in the lower right corner, you can see which ISP I used (Acanac showed up as their partner company Canaca.com), in the upper right corner of each image, you can see the date/time i did them, almost immediately, one after the next.

Hello,
You can also run a speed test on the connection without worrying about speedtest.net.

I think the biggest concern here is that the connection is consistent, since we are all paying a full year's payment up front.

Hello,
We can understand fully what you are saying but with risk comes great reward
. We have been doing this a very long time and nobody can predict when the next crash will occur that will cause downtime however be assured that whatever happens we are here day and night to make sure that it is fixed as soon as possible. We ourselves use these same connections for personal use and we hate to be kept away from our nightly surfing
Keep in mind that some of these concerns were also present 2 years ago
and questions like " what if you go under ? " . That is 2 years of savings that were lost.
