Good for beginner bikes or winter beaters.

Looking at the parts though, they're sub par what local bike shops offer. Odds are you'll need to have it tuned up after your first long distance ride. Happened to my friends Walmart bike after derailleaur didn't shift after going 50km :P

Oh and I got Team Assist coupons for 2014 :) Can be picked up at New Westminster, BC.

PM me if you want one!

is it really so warm in BC you have a winter beater bicycle?

These bikes are perfectly fine for any pleasure cyclist.

I literally commuted every day (primary mode of transport) for 16 months on a 2010 Reebok Rush when I lived in Ontario. Worked fairly well in summer and winter.

No problems except flats and my own stupidity. Oh but by the end of the 16 months tiny rust spots did start to appear, thanks to salty winter Ontario.

So after a few thousand km, I think the Reebok Rush is a sweet deal assuming they didn't ruin it in the course of 3 years

Nice find.

Thanks.
Was looking for a decent summer commuter bike and didn't want to spend $600+ on other brands that just grossly over priced for no reason

FYI. I have 2 boys 8 and 9. We a have a trailer up north which is bike friendly (we ride alot up north of toronto). So we need bikes here AND there for the 4 of us. I tried kijijii, on line, etc and most used bikes needed work/ tires, etc. pain in butt, broken. Best I found was sport chek. Its good for a few years. No breakdowns and if there is a problem, they will fix it in first year. Ive been burned several times with used bikes. Now i buy new, and dont worry.

A tube and tire is $40.00 , and i have to install it. you do the math. Times 2 and adjusting brakes etc.

Does anyone in Winnipeg have their 2014 coupons? If yes, would you be willing to part with one?
Thanks.

If you find the right Sport Chek with proper bike mechanics, you could try this. From Kijiji I bought my son a used Trek MT220 mountain bike for $50 (retails $400) then had Sportchek order and install new Shimano shifters, brakes, crank, seat, etc. Total cost of bike and repairs: $190. My local bike shop wanted $85 to order and install just the shifters. You can buy a new bike for less, and maybe with similar parts, but I doubt you could find one with a good light frame like the Trek's.

How's the deal on the 2013 GT Timberline 2.0?

Regular $359.99, now $279.99 - $20 instant rebate - 20% off TA = $207.99 + tax... good deal for a better beginner's bike or no?

looks decent for the price...much better than what you would get at CT
Name brand shimano parts, the fork and wheels would likely be the weak link.

the description is a bit misleading "bridges the gap between road and mountain"? it's a mountain bike that happens to have 29 inch wheels....that's the only thing i see that makes it any better on road.

I'd agree, much better than ct. It depends what you want to use it for though; if you were thinking off riding off road I would skip it. Rolling around with the family or commuting would be fine.
