[Staples] 500GB 860 Evo (Nov. 6 to Nov. 14) $89.99 + coupon

The sale starts tomorrow Wednesday November 6 til November 14.
Use Staples coupon code 65957 for additional $25 off which would lead to $64.99 before tax.
Black Friday is also coming soon so keep that in mind.

this is like the 3rd time these coupon codes work on this drive, with the sale price at 89.99
and yet they are still available,
maybe they will go cheaper on BF or CM.

Higher.

It always goes higher on BF\CM.

I was thinking to buy this for a tall Intel NUC8 as secondary storage as data storage disk. However, I heard different stories and POVs how reliable SSDs are for long-term storage, degrading only after 5 years.
Is this really true or are there counter measures for that?

Or is that only applicable if you have an SSD off power for a long time? Then what is the point of those external WD SSD backup disks if SSDs loose data integrity being unplugged?

May as well wait until Black Friday... I'm sure they will go for $40-$50, after I regretfully skipped that offer a few weeks back when Staples had it on sale

$/GB is quite high for a SATA III SSD ($0.18/GB). The Crucial MX500 2TB's (a good quality similar SSD) were on sale on prime day for $182 which is $0.09/GB, or twice as good. Not saying don't buy this if it fits your requirements, but there have been much better deals in the past that will likely repeat on Black Friday / Boxing Day.

Exactly. I haven't bought anything during BF and CM in so many years because the deal is either the same or worse. The cheapest deals always show up during Prime Day, or Sep/Oct when sales are low.

awesome... have been deciding between the 250gb or 500gb. The coupon helps with the decision.

get the 500gb ssd and an external enclosure for the ps4's hdd. that's what I did and works fine.

I learned this the hard way. I literally spent $450 more in total on JUST my desktop build than I would have for the exact same parts 6 months earlier (compared using pcpartspicker) due to price creep leading up to BF.

Amazon has better deals during Prime Day. But for other retailers, I think BF deals still more attractive.
