[Staples] HP Laserjet Pro MFP M26NW Printer for $79.99 or $25 less with coupons

Needed to replace a dying home inkjet, found this. First introduced in October 2016 (so relatively new design), designed for home or home office use, $100 off Staples' regular price. I combined it with a $25 off $75 coupon so I was $62.78 all in including tax and environmental fee with free shipping. Dont forget about ebates, I received my ebate email confirming 2% back which brings the all-in cost down to $61.43 (should only have been only 1% back, but I am not complaining). I consider that a relatively good deal on a monochrome laser three-in-one printer.

Check your email inbox, the $25 off $75 coupon were emailed out by Staples on or around May 12th.

Priced at $156.78 at Amazon: https://www.amazon.ca/LaserJet-Pro-MFP- ... 01MTZYAFB/ or $118.89US at Amazon US.

Non-OEM 1,000 page cartridge can be purchased later at Amazon for around $29 each: https://www.amazon.ca/Inkfirst-Cartridg ... 06W55YGF2/

Like other HP laserjets, OEM is pretty cheap, the HP retail is very expensive.
Koodo $40/mo, 6gb PM transfer plan
Carrytel cable internet, 100m unltd, $40/30d
Zoomer $36/mo, 2gb loyalty plan

From my experience, I've had one printer that went to the trash due to a non-oem refill. The pages came out with black streaks.

However, my current Brother printer has gone through two refills without a problem. This toner was purchased through Amazon from a 3rd party.

Was loooking at this laser printer to replace FIL's unreliable HP and Canon inkjet printers.

Googling found this printer has an initialization error powering up, and following confidential nvram reset procedures sent by email by HP service staff doesn't resolve the issue so many reported bricked printers.

So not a reliable model.

For my two small HP lasers at my office, I have been buying toners from Amazon for <$15 each, my HP lasers detect them as non HP products, give a small warning about warranty, beyond that everything works. My last batch of laser toners were from Ink First fullfilled by Amazon; fast shipping (typical of Amazon) and everyone of them worked great so far. I don't know anything about Ink First but I am not overly concerned about buying from Amazon as my past experience with Amazon has been: "the product you shipped me did not work" "okay, here is a full refund". As usual, if it is not sold by Amazon or not fullfilled by Amazon, don't buy it.
