In staples right now, and they're telling me the deal only works if you trade in an older model 8710 or 8720...?
BS
It says right in the flyer, trade your old printer and get a new all-in-one.

I see the free plan mostly offered with the cheaper HP ENVY trim.
Yup officejet pros are not eligible.

No way, I just traded in a broken canon pixma printer this morning.
Which location did you go?

What’s the equivalent hp printer to these that are eligible for the free instant ink plan? I need one for legal size and auto duplex scanning.

I see the free plan mostly offered with the cheaper HP ENVY trim.

Have a broken hp office jet pro 8500 that I can trade in.
I have a 2nd 8500 that is also kinda broken since it keeps cleaning the nozzle head and needs calibration all the time. I don’t print enough each month so the free 15 page/month is perfect for my use.
This is what I am looking for too. So I would say no.
But initial inks for this one can print 1000 b/w pages and 600 color pages. So if you print less than 15 pages/month, the initial inks should last you for years.

That was the manager I was talking to, after the first guy didn't know what to do. ;) Eventually he decided to just take the old printer and give me the $60 off, but he wasn't going to do that for quite some time. I think he was mixing it up with Staples regular trade in routine.

Regardless, trying to tell me that the flyer meant only older versions of the 8710 and 8720 was a high point in the customer service experience - but he was polite throughout.

Anyone know how fast this printer spits out paper? I use a laserjet printer to print out long documents that spans many, many pages.

Can I take out my laser cartridges from printer before trading it in?

They're worth like $100 (the printer has a single color ink empty which means it cannot even print black lol)

Thanks OP, old inkjet is dying so perfect timing.

8720 has slightly faster scan speed
8720 prints faster (24ppm vs 22ppm)
8720 scans legal also
8720 has 256mb vs 8710 has 128mb
8720 is 4.3 touchscreen vs 8710 is 2.65 touchscreen
8720 is 15kg vs 8710 is 11.5kg
they both duplex
8720 can fit an optinal 250 page feeder bringing the total to 500 pages

if you need the extra memory and scan legal pages the 8720 is a better buy otherwise not much of a difference IMHO.

If you need a printer to trade in, the Sally Ann or Value Village always has lots for a couple bucks each. Would be a good deal but I bought a 3830 a couple years back. Stopped using it because the ink is expensive. i use a laser for just about everything since I'm not printing photos. If that was the case, i'd splurge for a dedicated photo printer instead of an all in one. Ditto with a scanner. Can't beat a dedicated flatbed film and photo scanner, especially for archiving old photos and slides. The all in ones can't do what those can. But for simple things like home office or school work, it's probably fine...

if you use only the black color, provided it doesnt try to mix it with yellow or some other color, you can print 1000 pages, right? so the cost of printing black is around 4.5 cents per page after tax, not including the eco tax.

I think if you need or want the color or outright need a printer/scanner then this is fairly good. But the replacement cartridges means this printer will be dumped after the ink runs out, unless later on there are cheap 3rd party ink that works on this.
