I own(ed) one of these. I ended getting an unfixable error about the ink system. I was going to give my remaining inks to someone I know who had the same printer only to find out they had gotten the same error. I think this might have been caused by using 3rd party inks (which we both were doing for about a year until this error happened). But HP's own inks were costing me ~$160 each time if I recall correctly.

But initial inks for this one can print 1000 b/w pages and 600 color pages. So if you print less than 15 pages/month, the initial inks should last you for years.
But do we really think the initial ink tanks will last years without drying out. It’s almost like I need to print one page a week for the sake of keeping the cartridge “healthy”

Not sure how the new ink tanks work since my old HP Officejet 8500 pro died by not printing for a few months and the ink jets jamming up the printer

I just ordered this printer couple days ago online and it’s on its way. You think I can still take in my old office pro with receipt for trade in?

Was going to just donate it.

I've had an 8720 for almost 2 years now. I buy cartridges from 123ink and have had no issues.

Prior to this 8720 I had 8600. The 8710 is very similar to 8600 or 8610.

I really like 8720 output tray compared to the 8710. In my opinion 8720 is worth it.

How is the photo quality of the prints?
I already have a laser for all the other types of documents.

Ended up getting the 8720 for $79.09 all in after trading in an old Epson that was sitting in my garage for the past 5 years. This new printer will replace an aging 3050 I bought years ago. I do like the larger platen since i do some scanning of odd sized paper goods. Still looking for a good flatbed scanner though that can wait til after I acquire a better computer. So, thanks for the heads up on this printer deal and the large savings...

Damn, wish my timing was better. Bought the 8720 last month from staples for $169 and recycled my old canon printer at the local waste management facility.

Loving the 8720 so far, although it is quite big. Signed up for the basic $6 instant ink program.

Staples said they would price protect me if I bring the printer back to the store : /

What are the benefits between these 2? I already have a brother laser printer.
Wanted another one for some "colour pages"
That's probably because he owns an ink shop. 952 inks are harder to replicate the ink quality and more unreliable experiences for people who use refills. The OfficeJet Pro series is easily one of the most reliable and better value series in the category.
