That's why I asked :) nothing is available locally but it looks like I can order it online. I do have an old (and broken) printer for trade-in, and just wondering how the logistics is going to be.

regards,

i ordered the 8720 last week when it was in stock and it was supposed to deliver Monday.... then Tuesday.
Both days the tracking status showed "order missing". Eventually Tuesday it ended up changing to "2nd day short". The reps were useless in helping me and practically told me to keep waiting despite my request for an assurance it would arrive. A bit annoying we waited both days till 5pm. At 7pm last night i called to seek more info on what the "missing order and 2nd day short" status meant. They said, sorry we can't find stock and are refunding your order.

So that's my story with the 8720. Hopefully this 8710 order goes through. Thanks for the heads up.

I was passing the 1980 Eglinton Avenue East location and the staff member actually kind of sneered at me when I asked if they had any left "OOS for weeks". So, I don't recommend that location lol

Any chance you can have a summary added for instant ink best signup steps ? Too many opinions and approaches.
IMO, if you are not in a hurry to use this printer, the best way is just like what SagaA did, post#707. Called instant ink program before you setup your printer, which you can save your started cartridges for future use.
Start using your printer after you received instant ink cartridges package from HP in 2-3weeks.
You can enjoy the free trial period which you can print 300pages in 2-3months. Then switch to free 15pages/month.

Got a shipping confirmation for the printer I ordered on-line this afternoon. Any idea on how I can do the trade-in? My local store have had a history of not honouring the promotion...

If you want to get real creative with this deal... Order it online... Then take the online receipt in with a old printer.... Get the $60 refunded back....
Head over to Best Buy... Have them price match it at 129 or whatever it is... They will beat the different by 10%.... That is 20 bucks or so....
Once the Staples printer shows up... Take it in and get your $129 back
