Do we have to buy specific Nestle only capsules for this?
Seems pricey at almost $1 per cup of coffee.

Yes, but you can easily reuse the cups with your own coffee.

You need 2 cups for this. First cup you remove the bottom part that contains the aluminium so the remaining part of the cup is the coffee holder. For the second cup, cut half of it and keep the bottom half, discard the aluminium but keep the black plastic thing at the bottom. You are going to have to cut foil circles to replace the old one but it doesn't have to be perfectly circular, as long as it covers the black plastic at the bottom.

Just make sure you align the hole when you put it back in the machine so that it doesn't pierce another hole in it otherwise you are going to void your frankencup.

It's best to buy the pods at home outfitters with their weekly 20 per cent off coupon. They are 8.99 before coupon.
