Staples:return an item that you submitted an easy rebate for - rebate denied
Well, good for Staples.
I was never sure how they worked their return policy on an item that you return that you have already submitted for the easy rebate [thus leaving the UPC code intact, etc.], but the other day, I had to return an item for which I had already submitted the easy rebate. [I mentioned it to an employee, and she said they would know not to send the rebate.] I figured that if the easy rebate actually arrived at my home, I would just write VOID across the cheque, and bring it in to my local store [to let them know I wasn't entitled to it.] I'm impressed that Staples Rebate centre is on the ball on this one. Here's the email I received from them:
Unfortunately, we were unable to honor your request for the following reason: We cannot honour submissions for returned items.

"easy rebates" do not require the UPC cut out.

OTOH, if, for some reason your rebate is denied (illegitimately, from the terms of the rebate..) does Staples allow you to return the item, even if it's after their standard 30 days? If so, then I'd applaud them.
Because that's the biggest problem - most of the best deals with MIR really are not deals at all (in fact, you probably can find it cheaper) if you don't get the rebate.. it's kinda risky to go in on MIR deals, especially when the MIR is large, relative to the price of the item.._______________
So long. I'm outta here.
