not sure - I just opened my app and I'm gold! I'm nearly sure that I wasn't even close to be (it was 300 stars?);
edit: I bought a coffee earlier today but just check it now

Weirdly enough my stars zero'ed, but that bar is golden.

Got an email for this offer but it also said it's exclusive to my email. So it works in Canada but might be YMMV

Is there a reason to get gold if you go there maybe 2-3 times a year?

free refills on drip coffee. Thats about it

I feel this is literally a marketing ploy to get more userbase. Starbucks stars isn't what it used to be since they swapped out for the new system. I rarely go now.

Also free drinks occasionally. I only go to Starbucks occasionally (like once a month) but still manage to get one or two free drinks a year with the gold membership.

Refills include tea and iced coffee too - sometimes in the summer I'll stop in and get a tall iced coffee (substitute the classic syrup for any other at no charge), drink it in store and get a refill to go. Not as cheap as Starbucks/Timmies iced coffee, but tastes heaps better.

Same here except I do go when they have star dashes and I pick up my coffee at Starbucks instead of Tim's
