Currently with Cogeco. My 6 month promo price expires next month.. will likely go back to start. I was with them when I lived in Rogers land. See what Cogeco will do for me first.. Need to look and see if my old modem will work...

Amazing!
Effective February 1, 2017, your speed will increase from 30 Mbps download to 40 Mbps download with 10 Mbps upload at no additional cost. As well, your download limit will increase from 300 GB to unlimited usage

Got the email too a few hours ago, all Start plans are now cheaper and my current plan went up in speed to 40Mbps and $5 less/month!

So glad I switched from Cogeco.

Does this apply to their legacy plan?
Eg $45 for 30/5 with 300gb limit

Just checked my email. Only change for the top tier plan is bandwidth going from 400gb to Unlimited.

Was hoping for a slight price drop but oh well.

Hard to say as different locations have different plans.
For reference, I'm 40/10 unlimited for $50/month in Ancaster.

This new structure is a response to competition and a CRTC ruling last Oct lowering rates the big telecoms can charge independents. TekSavvy passed savings to their customers beginning just before Xmas.

For me, it's r-cable and the "new" plan is this.
r-cable:
30/5 unlimited @ $50/mo

I guess it's a choice between $45 for 300gb or $50 for unlim.

I'm on the Home Internet Cable 30 for $49.95 plus Unlimited Usage add $10.00 = $59.95/month and got this e-mail this morning:

"We're happy to let you know that your current internet plan has been improved.
Effective February 1, 2017, your internet service pricing will go down by $9.95 per month and your speed will increase from 30 Mbps download to 40 Mbps download with 10 Mbps upload.
You can sit back and relax as this change will happen automatically on your next bill."

Thanks Start!

I changed my legacy plan (20/10/200GB @$45) to the new 40/10/unlimited @$50. For $5 extra for faster speed and unlimited bandwidth, it's no brainer.
