Anyone just starting or just completed an apprentice as an electrician? I am curious what questions to ask/who to contact. What the starting hr rate is for an apprentice etc... Already checked a few websites just want peoples experiences/knowledge to help me determine some other aspects

I'm searching too. I don't know if this applies to everywhere, but in the east end (bowmanville/oshawa) area, They hold a test once a year for applicants. I took it in the summer, and there must of been over 400 people who tested for about 10 positions or so. Not very good chances of making it. It was just a basic mechanical aptitude test written in the 50's or something, but I guess it helps them weed out some of the people. I felt I did very well on it, but didn't get a call so I'm sure lots of people do well. I'd like to know if sending an application and getting a call to interview ever worked for anyone. I'm really finding it difficult to get an opportunity as I have no contacts in the industry, and I'm about 10 years too late doing the high school apprenticeship approach.
Any other suggestions from anyone? I'm tired of working jobs with little meaning and finally want to start a decent career! You hear/see all these ads for trades, but don't really see much action!
