Starting HighSchool

Next year (not this comming school season) I will be starting HighSchool. What should I expect there? Is it just like a normal 30 kids to one teacher room setting? Or is it like a room with millions of kids and one yeacger? What can/should I do this year to "prep" me for next year?

Nothing really. For people like you starting high school, start volunteering and run for student positions. Starting early will really put your foot in the door for opportunities when university comes around.

As for studies, don't sweat it too much but start developing study habits. For example, do all your homework as soon as you come home. Not only does this create a worry-free evening but also help develop a work habit that will become useful in the future.

Student:Teacher, I'd say 25-1, maybe 30 or so to 1 at begining of year, will eventually cut down.
BTW, B40 mentioned this before, I agree too. When everyone says gr 11 and 12 only matter, beware. If you follow that advice and slack off, fool around or be a troublemaker in gr9/10. You'll probably continue that behaviour OR have a hard time keeping up with work, as you are used to slacking and not working.

im going into to grade 9 next this year i'm happy tho cus my bro is the quarterback for the senior team is being looked at to get a scholarship to mcmaster in hamilton. so i know a lot of people.

as for the studies and stuf fhe told me not to think its hard. that only makes it hard went it usually isnt it is. and NEVER EVER GIVE UP!!

I wouldn't worry too much about it. I think I put in a total of 20 hours worth of studying in five years of highschool and I got into engineering at Waterloo. That being said, developing studying habits is easier at your point in life than when you get to university and find you have to study 20 hours a day..

Most importantly, do everything you can in highschool. If you like sports, play on as many teams as you can. Get on as many councils, teams, whatever you can do. Remember, don't EVER think that you are too busy. Once you get to university, you'll realise how truly lazy you were in highschool.

And finally, just be happy, have fun. Be stupid. Chicks dig it.

everything he said..but everyone is different, if you are a nerd, nerd it up. if you are those school spirit type of guys, join all the council and clubs. if you are a jock, join the school teams. if you're a thug, go social at the smoking area. but of course, i assume u'll aim to achieve a median of the listed categories. so just take it easy, but know what your priorities are, if you are not dumb in elementry, u wont fail in HS.

Nobody warned me before.

When I entered secondary school, my marks went up to over 100% from the Cs that I get in elementary schools. And there was no homework or studying. Grade 10 came homework! Grade 11 required studying! And the amount of time spent doing homework and studying increased by a factor of infinity. (Does 0 x infinity = 0 or infinity?) Anyways, my marks still plummeted. And I blame RFD.

i look back on HS and i'm like. damn it was so easy...

what really is there to prepare for for HS? ...

however i did realize, in the last year of HS i got amazingly tired of school and skipped alot and whatnot... sorta drained myself the first 3 years (fast tracked to avoid double cohort) but yeah i still managed to get my ass in UofT with a scholarship...

i don't think there's much to prepare for HS, just enjoy the time till Uni hits lol
