I'm not sure what's worse... Pawning jewelry for a loan OR going to one of those payday loan places..
Both are just as bad...

They are both as equally repulsive as the other.Heavenguard wrote: ↑That's Oliver (aka the cashman), not Harold.

This guy has a lot of enemies (A given in this shady field). The original shop was burned down near bowlarama at glencairn.

This is true of this industry in general. A 75yr old well known pawn shop owner in my area 'disappeared' a few years ago and was never found.jimmyonishi wrote: ↑This guy has a lot of enemies (A given in this shady field). The original shop was burned down near bowlarama at glencairn.

I guess I mostly agree with that, and it's the same with banks: they do not advertise on TV as often as this guy, or Oliver, or Capital Direct, or PayDay loans, or Mogo, etc.rocking23nf wrote: ↑serouisly, what you expect going do a pawnshop with TV ads that call him self the "loanerranger"
its the same with lawyers, the good lawfirms dont advertise on TV.

I did a lot of pawn business with harolď but I've used pawn shops and gold buyers for over 20 yrs so I knew what to ask and say therefore I was able to pawn over 10.000 worth of gold and diamonds at a 12 month rate as opposed to his 30 day pawn ..we knew by asking up front ...the way we did our pawn with him we were able to pick up all our stuff starting the next year every month consecutively np yes he's a prick and rude as **** but not to me or my girlfriend but others in his store he gave them the gears most likely becuz they were new to the pawn game ..but he did give us a 20% higher value than that prick Russel Oliver.. Harold ok if you know what u got and if it's a lot but he's not going to roll out the red carpet for a 40 or 200 piece of gold not goingvto happen u want his undecided attention have all your stuff weighed and ready to give him a price as hell tell u what it's worth as soon as its in his hand ...

I know its 2020 now but I just herd about Harold just today actually lol.
I just dont understand why everyone that has had a bad experience with this man says that he is a unlicensed pawn broker (well if you knew that then why did you pawn) just curious.
And also I'm not 100% sure but I only would assume his business would not still be running it it was illegal or not licensed, CRA would have a field day if he was not "licensed ".
Individual's go to places like this for a quick buck due to financial situations, (no judgment I've had to also) but there is a reason as to why people would alternatively use a pawnbroker or pay day loan's it's because they are unable to get a loan from a bank.
If you need to use anything other then a bank to get your financial issue solved then technically you should do research first, walking out of a pawn shop with a scrap piece of paper with a sticker and number on it what did you expect, if this actually happend I think I would be more upset with myself for being stupid enough to walk out leaving my expensive jewellery behind only with a scrap paper agreement.
Hey but I bet he fixed your financial situation though, didint seem to worried when you walked out cash in hand.
