Steely Dan / Donald Fagen
Does anyone think these two sound alike? I just acquired the Citizen Steely Dan Set and just totally loving it. I use to hear some of his music growing up, but mostly as background noise.
I've always been a fan of the early this period even though I grew up in the 80s, but despite their differences, the 70's style is generic and neutral enough to new listeners.
Anyways, if you want some good music, check out Steely Dan and Donald Fagen.

They should sound alike. Hate to break it to you but there isn't a person called Steely Dan, it's the band name.
By now you've figured out why Donald Fagen sounds like Steely Dan.

I think the reason why I was so troubled in making the connection was in the fact that I was thinking of Dan Fogleberg and mixed it all with Steely Dan/Donald Fagen. It's prett odd that they would use Dan and Donald interchangebly.

Donald Fagen is one of the 2 Steely Dan members, I forget the other guy's name and I'm too lazy to look it up.
The band name 'Steely Dan' is a bit of a snide in-joke, they were named after the 'Steely Dan' dildo in William S. Burroughs' novel Naked Lunch.
Their music is easy listening but listen carefully to the lyrics, they are often sardonic and as vicious as many of the punk bands of the time.
