Is it still worth it to buy a PS2? And connecting it to a PC question
well i just got paid yesterday from my new job and then @ the same day payday @ timmies as well.. so i got 2 paycheques.. anyways, i told my gf i wont buy anything computer related until i pay off my LCD.. which is by january.. so i asked her, if i can buy a PS2.. its like 159.99 @ FS and BB.. is it still worth it to buy it @ that price or should i wait for boxing day lets say.. or PS3 release?
and one more thing, i have a BFG 6600GT on one comp and a Powercolor Theatre Pro 550 on the new system that i will be building.. they both have dongles that have those video in/out etc.. is that all i need to connect a ps2 to a pc and use my LCD as output? if i do that, what will happen if my pc is on? will it damage my LCD if i do that? or just buy like a 14-20 inch CRT tv?
thanks in advance!

just connect the ps2 video output into the 550's input..... then use something like dscaler to view (or something that by passes the hardware mpeg encoder because it introduces a lag)

if you're picking up a PS2 try to grab the "fat models" so you can install a HD loader. it'll save you some money in the long run and getting it modded will ensure you can swap discs with friends.

The only place i'd buy a console now adays is probably at EB. I like their warranty that they sell. It's worth it.

why don't you buy from here, I just saw someone selling his ps2 at $90?
and get it mod from here for $70 from someone else.
I have a mod ps2 chucky one, I am still check periodically on a used mod PS2 slim.
Is there a particular games from ps2 you lookiing to play???
BTW, if you are waiting for ps2 to go down in price after the ps3, chance are if won't happen right away. Sony the over-confidence freak CEO said the only competition in the next generation is themselves, so if they lower the price of ps2 is would affect ps3 sales.
However it depends on the PS3 launch period if it is in 2007, you might see a price cut after E3 in june next year. Since the launch of x360, there wasn't any major systems price cut except the $20 off of ps2 sales in the x360 launch week. I expect the price would go back up to $179 soon.
good luck

It's only worth it if there's a PS2 exclusive game you really want to play like Final Fantasy or Dragon Quest or something like that.
