store credit question
hello,
i searched for this but was not able to find it.
i purchased a suit at a store, took it home, when i got home i realized that there was a deffect with the pants.
so i went back to the store, they said they had no other suits with the same style, but they offered me a store credit.
the question i have is with the store credit, the store told me that i had until the end of the year to use it else it will expire.
is this correct?

whats the name of the store? did you ask about the return policy before you bought it? does it say anything on the receipt? in store display about returns even?

Different stores different policies. Was there anything in writing on your receipt or some sign on the wall regarding the return/refund policy? Actually if I were you I'd use up the store credit ASAP. With the economy the way it is you never know if they will be around by the end of the year.

If the store credit was in the form of a gift card then some provinces have laws that prevent them from expiring. Although if I bought something that was defective and they could not replace it I would want my money back. Depending on how you paid you could also see if your credit card could help you out.
