I am a university student and I like BMWs... a lot. I am wondering if there are any positions at a dealership I can apply for. Salary is not a big concern, I am doing this sort of like a hobby. I want to work on Saturdays only. Does anyone know if this is possible? or does such a position exist?
Any input / suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!![]()

I'm at Laurier and I know BMW does post for co-op positions.
I went to an interview (never did get the job :X) but I know they pay pretty poorly. I believe it was under 500 a week (which is on the low end for co-op).
Requirements were you needed your own transportation to get there (the dealership was in oshawa - quite a bit away) and needed to know how to drive standard (for the job you'd be moving cars 'sometimes').
It seemed like a decent place to work, however very few ethnicities I found. If that is your concern at all.
I've got a friend working at the downtown dealership but he's mainly doing jockeying.
Try and apply, it doesn't hurt but i'd imagine it to be tuff to get an internship or job even unless you want to be in the shop. (garage)

its town and country BMW
and i know cause my friend works there
basically... a part-time worker isn't reliable in that line of business... especially at 1 day a week
you're basically on commission...
1 day a week is very weak... customer's won't appreciate your extreme lack in availability and neither will your boss
in general, part time status = 15 - 25 hrs/wk... 1 day a week won't cut it dude

youll never be able to get a job like that.
Its BMW not mcdonalds.
you cant just go in once a week dickaround and go home. after all... they are a luxury car company. They have a reputation an d therefore demand high quality employees, not just guys that wana do it for fun then quit anytime they want._______________

Thanks for the input guys, some of you are very negative about this. Let me tell you this, I know someone in Saskatchewan that does actually work for a BMW dealership on Saturdays only. That person is only a high school student. I want to clarify that I do not want a job as a car salesperson. Also, I do not see this job as "dicking around." I am very passionate about BMWs and it is this passion I want to bring to the job.

doesnt matter...
he probably cleans floors or is the owners son.
if he has any sort of significant position.. then DAMN THAT BMW dealer sucks!
Im just sick of people say "oh... i want a job that pays $50/hr... only part time.. i dont wanna work fast food or services.... b/c im too good for that even tho i have no expirience and im 2 years old."
*exageration*_______________

Yes, I understand chances are not exactly high. Thanks again everyone for your replies. So now, should I at least try sending out resumes to dealerships?

Go ahead,,,,but just wanting to work 1shift a week you arn't gonna get much reply...unless they need you to scrub down the toilets every week...
Sounds like you just want a job @ the dealership b/c it sounds like a cool place to work,,,,yet you are not ready to fully commit to the dealership itself. Maybe after working there for a while and you get to know the employers then they may be more lenient in your shift availability,,,,but starting out doubt it.
