Students interested in studying in the United States: READ

If you are a student interested in studying in the United States, it can be quite expensive - especially being a non-resident of the state. Luckily, there are some schools that offers in-state local resident tuition rates for Canadian citizens. Here is a list:

Canadian citizens (any province)

Ontario Residents only

Manitoba Residents only
  • All Manitoba residents qualify for in-state or discounted tuition at any community college or public university in Minnesota under the Manitoba-Minnesota Reciprocity Agreement
  • University of North Dakota (Grand Forks, ND) - Manitoba residents qualify for discounted tuition rates

Saskatchewan Residents only
  • University of North Dakota (Grand Forks, ND) - Saskatchewan residents qualify for discounted tuition rates

New Brunswick Residents only
  • University of Maine Presque Isle (Presque Isle, ME) - New Brunswick residents qualify for discounted tuition rates

Additionally, there are some large, state schools that offer very cheap out-of-state/non-resident tuition rates, cheaper than some universities' in-state tuition:
  • Texas A&M University - West Texas (Canyon, TX)
  • University of Texas of the Permian Basin (Odessa, TX) - only +$35/credit more (or $525 a semester) for non-residents & international students!
  • University of Minnesota - Crookston (Crookston, MN) - all domestic and international students pay in-state tuition
