Stupid pigs can't drive
I work right at richmond and victoria and a cop just hit an audi tt.
poor guy, long weekend and all. the cars in rough shape.
tell me how does a cop drive fast enough to pretty much write off a car right by an intersection??
i hope the audi sues the toronto police, the friggin air bag deployed on his girlfriend.

maybe the audi ran a red?
maybe the officer was rushing to a crime scene?
but i'm pretty sure the officer was drinking on the job; how else could he/she missed the freaking huge audi and forgot to slam on the brakes

A few weeks ago an officer parked his cruiser on the train tracks (was on CFTO) when they were setting up a perimeter. Needless to say, the crusier got hit by a train and was destroyed.
Why park a cruiser in train's path?

I often wonder with how police drive would they do these kinds of things with their own personal vehicles? Maybe not much is required to be an officer anymore?

the audi was going into the left lane from the middle and the cop car sped up from behind and slammed it, pushing it into the pole on the curb.
the cop car had no flashers on and the light was red.
it was completely the cops fault. there are tons of witnesses still on the street watching.

I have personally seen a cop drive 20+ over with no flashers on, cutting everyone off and not using turn signals whatsoever. As soon as we hit dense traffic at the traffic light, he turned on his flashers, sped off and turned into a side street which led to one of the main streets. I ended up taking that main street and caught up to him at another light. His flashers were off and he was once again cutting everyone off without using the turn signals... Great law enforcement we got, eh?

There driving is definitely questionable, and they seem to think they are "above the law" at all times. I've seen one drive onto an unpaved shoulder to speed (well above the limits) past everyone... no lights, no sirens, but lots of rocks being thrown at the rest of us.

It is even more funny given how much of their resources are spent on roadside tax collection and endless, maternalistic traffic 'safety' lectures.
I still see about 1 in 10 cars without their headlights turned on at night or in heavy rain conditions. Oh, but it's 'street racing' that is the real problem.
Who takes them seriously - besides themselves of course?

The Audi driver is screwed no matter what.

You might be right. The officer will say that he thought the guy was a terrorist and that he was going to crash his Audi into that coffee shop over there and had to rear end him. The officer will get a medal, the police unions a pay increase and the guy in the Audi will be sent to Syria.

What's wrong with Syria?

This happened yesterday when an officer was rushing on a "officer needs assistance" call. Instead of effectively assisting the other officer, he rear-ended a Toyota that was double parked. One teenage girl in critical condition, 2 other hurt, and the officer had a concussion.

I have to say no its not "that" easy to be eligible to be a cop unless you're a woman or are visible minority.
The tests are pretty tough too. Especially the physical and as much as you may think its easy to pass. If you're in you're late 20s to 30s its harder than a perky 21 upstart that just wanted to wave a gun and drive all day.
I've spoken to a few cops and let me just say that yes, many of the guys, and I means just guys are jerks. They're from small towns and never ever driven in an urban area or least met an ethnic person even.
They're just waiting for that big bust or shooting or just mill around a crime scene chatting.
Hence why Toronto has so few but high profile incidents that always tarnish the TPS reputation. Afterall they were recruited back when the standards were lower and so many young guys joined because they got all C's (thanks Sarah) and wanted the warm union blankie. Feels like the CAW doesn't it!

Did the Audi driver pull into the left lane and stop, or was driving very slowly? Had he not checked the left lane before moving from the center lane?
It sounds like he received a good whack from behind, and given the arrogant attitude of so many drivers that just cut others off, it sound like he may be found at fault.

I wish it was just a farce but the minimum requirement is still just a high school diploma. Seriously I don't know about other people but the idea of some high school grad policing is pretty ridiculous (it may have made sense 10-20 years ago but not so today).
