Stylist at First Markham Place
Hey guys
There's a haircut shop in First Markham Place, that has 2 sides to it, each in a different arcade. One side has silver color and the other is the reception which is red color.
Do you guys know what this place is called? I'd like to call them up tomorrow, making sure they have appointment space before I actually drive 40 minutes there.
Thanks

For some reason those places overcharge like crazy. Like 30 bucks for a haircut. The place I usually go to charges like $10. I don't really see the difference in quality of the haircuts.

Where can I get a similar quality haircut?
One thing I've noticed is that they use scissors to cut the back and sides instead of just razoring the whole area which looks different afterwards.
Also, some haircutters are different than others. This girl for instance charged $5 extra than the guy I got mine with before, but she wasn't social at all, and didn't talk much. I didn't like that.

I think it depends on the haircut u want. If u don't want the "I just came out of the barbershop look" then they won't use the electric razor.

Spellbound is one of the better hairsalons definitly geared towards the "asian" styles of cut. I'd say the absolute most popuarl asian hair salons in the GTA for asian look is probably Chin.G, Hair Culture, and Spellbound.
The reason they charge so much is because the boss knows that young asian kids are rich and that if you create an upscale product which keeps you in style and fashion with their home countries, kids with money will buy it. But salons have changed a lot since the olden days. Theres a lot more services that salons offer now. At ching.G at least (which is the one I went to but am now at A.I.1 cuz of my stylist) would give you a glass of water, tea, coffee, whatever you wanted while you sit. You get extra long hair wash and head massage and neck massage.
Minimum time anyone would spend at these type of upscale salons are 1 hour. A regular salon which doesnt offer as high end services could have you in and out within 20 mins. A quick rinse, snip snip, razr, rinse, youre done.
Spellbound specializes in Fobby Honger looks and naturally there are many fobby hongers who need their hair cut the precise way. I believe their instruments are different as well as opposed to regular hair salons.
Just think of it this way. Spellbound offers premium service and as with everything that is premium, there will be a premium price associated with their service.

I used to spend 40USD on a haircut every month because I knew I was guarenteed a good haircut.
I know people who wont spend more then 10CDN on one.
Hair is more important to some people then others.

Aug 21st, 2006 05:48 AM #13Have you even tried these places? You will notice the difference, however if you're paying $10 a haircut and happy with it, you probably won't think it's worth your money.

This post reminds me of some other post about the expensive price of "Bape Clothings"
for n = anything in trend
for x = price of n

I do my hair there alot. Many of their customers are wealthy and mature, definitly not your regular asian teen. I've seen models, fashion-boutique owners and radio-personalities do their hair there... You get what you pay for.
I believe Spellbound does hair for the Toronto Chinese Pageant too.
