Suggestions on Broken Laptop Soundcard
Hello everyone,
My Laptop's soundcard is possibly busted. I plugged in my headphones and I saw a spark, then the sound was dead. Tried messing around with the sound options, tried reinstalling the sound drivers, and also tried reformating my laptop aswell, but still no luck. So it's a good chance it's busted. I do not have warranty on it anymore. I was looking for an alternate solution on either how to fix it or other options to go about getting my sound back. I was thinking of usb soundcard or pcmcia soundcard. The usb soundcard might seem a bit bulky and taking up USB port. The pcmcia sounds good but pretty pricy. So I wanted to seek some suggestions on how to go about fixing it or other alternatives beside USB soundcard or PCmcia. Also I was wondering if I used the external Soundcard ( usb / pcmcia ) will the sound be powerd up into my laptop's speaker or only a plugged in speaker/headphones? Any suggestions would help a lot. Much appreciated in advance. Thanks.
IF anyone have a good deal on a used/working or new pcmcia soundcard please send me a message. THanks.

I would suggest getting a PCMCIA sound card... Sound Blaster makes them. Should be an easy solution as it sounds as though yours is busted on the laptop.

The Source has a usb audio adapter for 20.00...easy fix.
Plug external spkrs or headphones into it...or try feeding it into the audio input and see if the speakers on the lappy still work.
