suggestions for a good 22" monitor
Hi guys,
would like a suggestion for a good 22" LCD monitor.
right now saw in future shop-
LG 22" Widescreen LCD Monitor (L226WT) for 299.99 [after$ 50 off]
Best buy has the Samsung 22" Widescreen LCD Monitor (226BW) for 299.99 [after $80 off]
which one is good? What do I look for in a good LCD monitor. I would be editing and making home videos and DVd's. I would also like to use the monitor to watch downloaded movies. I recently bought a refurb. HP 1600 computer from future shop as I didn't want to spend too much for a computer as it depreciates quickly. But want a good monitor as the change in technology is slower here and it would last me a couple of years more than the computer.
any opinions appreciated. thanks.

I've got the LG L226WA, which is a bit more expensive than the WT, but has faster response time, as well as DVI and Component inputs which I use with my Xbox.
Great monitor though.
I originally wanted the Samsung 226BW, but went with LG cause it had the extra inputs for just a bit more at the time.

I have heard that the 22" panels are all formed by the same company, and the quality is not so good. This is just heresay... looking for some more opinions on this as well. I have a 30" dell which I really like, but looking to get a secondary monitor for my laptop, and considering a 22-24".

I have a 22" Acer AL2216 and its absolutely fine. I got it a few months ago for $299 and its not as snazzy looking as the samsung, but I'm still happy with it. That could be because I'm color blind and don't really notice imperfections in color though lol. But I've seen the Samsung and LG side by side at Futureshop and the colors look a bit "warmer" on the Samsung, and colors like yellow( or green?) seem to look more solid.

Why do people buy 22" monitors when the dot pitch is worse? A 24 isn't that much more expensive is it?

I have a samsung 226bw and it's working out fine for me.. I only wish it had some extra inputs other than analog and digital.. but it's enough real estate for video editing I think.. 24" would have been nicer but it's almost double the price..

IMO, Acer, Benq, Samsung and LG are all good. Not sure about Dell but heard good things about them and they are suppose to be made by one of the 4 I mentioned..Not sure about Viewsonic LCD but their CRT are POC, I would avoid them.

I agree that the dot pitch of a 22" is worse than the 20" screens, but a 24" is usually more than double the price.

The Dell 22'' LCD Monitor was about $299 on average. How does it compare to the Samsung? I'm assuming samsung's is MUCH better?
Dells' price went down to $279 (possibly $249, can't quite remember) one time on sale. Is the Samsung worth the extra $20 or $50 bucks?

I would go for a 22inch WS with a 2ms response time, either the LG or the samsung.

I have been using a LG flatron 775FT from 2001 without any problem so far. The monitor is good and was actually leaning towards the LG brand. But I am always fascinated by the samsung LCD Tv's and thought that samsung would be a good buy too untill I heard about the pixels shoing up on the screen and the backlight bleeds. I heard that samsung would not repair or replace the monitor for you unless you have 4 or more pixels showing on the screen. I think thats a bad issue.
I did see Dell 22" at 249 $ in Lucomputers last week. I guess the prices are coming down even more.
xinhang I would appreciate it if you can tell me where you got your monitor from.
