Super Monkey ball or Rayman?
For those lucky to have both for the wii...what would you recommend for a party game between these 2 of you can only pick one? They both look pretty fun but I dont know if I can justify both...

all depends if you like the previous monkey ball games..
for a party game, rayman is a bit better in my opinion. But if time is not of the essence, probably wait for wario ware to come out

Monkey Ball benifits from having a deeper single player, but Rayman is easier for quick pickup and play style gaming.
Some of the Minigames in Monkey Ball are hit and miss.
A lot (60%) of Rayman's minigames are alternating turns. Which can be a plus (allows 4 players with one controller), or minus (not as much simutanious multiplayer games.)

My brother in law is an avid gamer and nintendo fan. He picked up monkey ball, but ended up trading it for another game. The minigames are less hit and more miss. The good ones are pretty good, but it's maybe a handfull. Alot of the games are painful to play, controls don't work very well, but have the right idea. We've been playing rayman, and it's been pretty good. Need to work on the multiplayer though. Seems you need to unlock the minigames in single player mode first.

rayman
I ended up selling my copy of monkey ball...the controls for majority of the mini-games are horrible. I was deciding between rayman and monkey ball too, i made the wrong choice. Defintely get rayman over monkey ball

With this and the other post, I think I have to defend Monkey Ball a bit.
One thing with Rayman is that while the minigames are that much more accessable and more entertaining at first sight, they overlap quite a bit (Workout, which consist of 15+ games, are the same motion, with a different background for all of them). It will seem like an ideal multiplayer game at first, and even though I have the game, I question how much more can I go back to the same game until I get the feeling of boredom.
Monkey Ball's multiplayer game is definitly hit and miss, and most of them are either a) boring or b) uncontrollable. However, there are a few gems that really make the game shine: Such as:
Home Run Derby
Fencing
Hurdle Race
Monkey Boxer
Monkey Darts
Monkey Snowboard
Monkey Squash
Monkey Wars
Number Ball
Red Light/Green Light
Simon Says
Monkey Golf
Monkey Bowling
Monkey Race
Monkey Billards
The problem with many of these is either a) They overlap with Wii Sports already, or b) are just too simplistic. The best game that I've been going back to over and over, however, is Monkey Darts.

I hope your wife don't mind seeing the rabbits tortured in humerous ways. :P

I own both and have to say in a party, Monkey Ball is the way to go.
The downfall of Rayman is you have to have played a lot in single player to unlock the games for multiplayer. Also, I find it more fun to play with numerous ppl at the same time instead of taking turns.
While both games have great minigames, I'd have to say Monkey Ball is the better multiplayer game to play with more ppl.
