I personally like Watami at market village and akasaka at west beaver creek.

Are you looking for AYCE or a la carte?
Gal's sushi is alright. I like this place called Tomo Sushi on Yonge and Weldrick. One of my favourite places is Ichiban (the one on Yonge/South of Finch - empress walk area). All these are a la carte.
If you want AYCE, my personal favourite Ten-Ichi on Sheppard, east of Mccowan. Matsuda (same owners of Ten-Ichi) is also a good one at Steeles and Middlefield.

PROTECT your pet from HOT SUN/HEAT. Dogs can die of heat stroke/dehydration= panting, fast breathing, dry nose. Cool down dog/go to vet/let dog stand in a bit of water. Dogs need WATER, SHADE, COOL air

+1 for Markham Sushi
other notes to add:
- non buffet
- family feel as it is owned/operated by an older Japanese couple. On the weekends there a couple of younger faces who work there.
- The location isn't the greatest, not a lot of foot traffic in the area. The shop is adjacent to the TD bank and thus tucked wayyyy in the back of the enclosed plaza (can't see the restaurant from the intersection)
- Hours are Mon-Sat 11:30am to 9pm.

I've never been personally, but I have a buddy who swears that the best AYCE in the GTA is from Ten Ichi

Besides being a wine geek, my wife and I are also foodies. The best sushi we've had in Toronto are Sushi Kaji in Etobicoke and Zen in Scarborough. The only other sushi place we've been that even comes remotely close is Inatei (9021 Leslie St., North of Hwy 7) in Richmond Hill. Their quality was excellent, though the caveat is we haven't been there for about a year. But checking Yelp reviews, it seems they're still good.

Oops, this is the restaurant I was talking about earlier...not Inakaya...I guess I had izakaya on the mind.
Yeah this is a good restaurant. They have a pretty plain sushi on the menu and in their combos though, but they have unique fish and specials. Best to order off special menu and ask chef for recommendations IMO rather than regular combos.

Get take out from Nagoya (7750 Kennedy Rd. Unit 7) ... the southwest corner of Kennedy & 14th Av.
They have 2 specials that are really really awesome!
#1 - 60pcs of Sushi, Sashimi, & Rolls for $28.98
#2 - 40pcs of Sushi, Sashimi, & Rolls for $19.98
I personally get platter #1 almost every other Friday night ... between me and my fiance ... we would finish it all ... I probably have about 40pcs myself ...
They also have AYCE as well ... for reservations: 905-943-8968
This is the 60pc platter:

This is the 40pc platter:
