Switching ISPs - Cancel first or ...?

I've had enough of Bell. I'm considering switching to ca.inter.net.

This is probably a dumb question but I figure some of you guys have quite a bit of experience when it comes to this. So I'll ask anyway.

Do you think that I should first cancel my service at Bell and then sign up for ca.inter.net
or
first sign up for ca.inter.net and then cancel Bell.

Better sign up for the new service first, because it could sometimes take a while and you'd be without internet.

Sign up first, then cancel.

Its ok to have two internet connections for a few days. Its NOT ok to lack internet for a few days.

Just a note... if you are switching due to poor speeds, you won't get any improvement by switching to a 3rd party DSL ISPs. They use the same line.

Cancel first, they'll tell you when the service ends
Call new ISP at least 5 business days (usual delay for activation) before cancellation date, in the worst case scenario, you may be out of connection for a day

When you cancel, ask Bell for the cancellation number and then give that number to your new provider otherwise you will be out of service for quite a while.

I see thanks, well bbill hope everything goes well, and when you get a chance update on how inter.net works, I may be jumping on that same bandwagon in January once the 2 year rogers contract ends.

Why don't you call Bell first, demand them to cut you a deal or cancel the service if they don't. 99% of the time, they will give you some discount or a free upgrade to a faster service.

If they choose to do nothing, then cancel Sympatico.

You gotta call Bell anyways, might as well make that call worth a while.

If you demand it they won't give you anything.If you call and ask in a very clam tone then yes you will get a deal.
