Switching to Teksavvy - A few questions!
Hey folks,
I'm about to switch to TekSavvy. This 60GB cap from Rogers is eating away at my soul. I've never used DSL before, nor have I had much experience with friends/family setting it up, so it's a bit of a new area for me.
Our phone service is currently with Bell, so we have an active phone line.
I understand that each phone jack in the house will need a microfilter, correct?
I heard that the Bell store gives them to you if you ask, fact or fiction? Buying one for each jack in the house will add up, there's quite a few.
Also, do I need different type of filter for the jack that'll be leading to the DSL modem?
I figure I'll grab one of the Thomson SpeedTouch 516s from Infonec, it seems to be pretty popular around here. Was also thinking about grabbing a WRT54GL and using Tomato for MLPPP, getting around throttling and such.
Sorry for the (possibly) dumb questions. I'm thoroughly experienced with most things computer-related, just not DSL

Each jack that has a phone connected. Yes.
Unable to comment. Never tried it.
No filters period.
Definitely popular. Personally, have not encountered any issues with the last three installed.
May be of some interest,
