I started this as a new thread, so that every one can provide alternative suggestions on UBB ruling. Like reverse it back to what it was, dismiss the CRTC at all. What I think is, UBB could be a great idea with some modification: True UBB should start from 0 GB, and charge based on real usage. For a...

I just wanted to create this thread as it appears that some people may be thinking that the predicted overruling of retail rates UBB on ISP resellers will impact how Rogers/Shaw/Telus/Bell are charging their UBB to retail customers. This is not true. The CRTC does not govern the retail market as it ...

Is there a promotion for a free month or three to test out cable speed in my area with no contract with rogers? I use to have some rogers people (hired students i think) come around and offer it, but not lately.

http://www.eyesurf.net/ Anyone currently with this company? 10Mbps unlimited internet service for $45 per month. It says on their website "not affected by UBB" because they are not using Bell, not sure what they actually use. Although this is a little bit more expensive than the other sma...

Well, I guess other ISP providers in the world must be LOSING money then charging for as little as 10 bucks for unlimited bandwidth 20Mbps internet. UBB? well if ITS TRUE UBB, then grandma should probably be paying 2 cents for internet because she uses 100 MB a month. I got this from dslreports, pre...

Dear Acanac Customer, The CRTC just decided to allow Bell Canada to charge independent ISPs, like Acanac Inc., what's called "usage-based billing"(UBB)on our customers. This means that Bell will force us to pay usages fees similar to those that Bell charges to its own retail customers, whe...

I've been browsing endless hours in the expectation that I would find a company with decent speed and near unlimited (or unlimited) bandwidth. Alas I didn't find anything that can suit my needs. I do not live in Montreal but I'm pretty close (~10km away at St-Bruno-de-Montarville). I would expect at...

Although I think/hope I am grandfathered with an unlimited Velcom plan from around 2004, they sent me a generic email today: [QUOTE]We recently emailed about a new upcoming Usage Based billing that will take effect March 1st/2011. We are as frustrated as anyone in this ludicrous decision. Please tak...

Harper says they will decide by March 1...now it is time to hit your MP's hard with your opinions and suggestions. And if it is reversed, when possible dump Bell, Rogers and Telus and pick one of the resellers to voice your support in a tangible way. http://www.cbc.ca/technology/story/2011/02/01/int...

Just called Netflix to tell them that I will not be signing up with them, and that I tell everyone who talks about signing up with them not to join. Nothing to do with the company, but because of UBB I would be going way over my cap, and it just happens to be a shame that they are not speaking out a...
