Taiwan Oyster Omelette
Any recommendations for a place that has nice Taiwanese-style oyster omelette?
Saw this in a Taiwanese show and curious to see how good it is.
Thanks.

I'm sure you mean this? 煎蠔餅

I haven't tried it in the GTA but I know Congee Wong has it for sure. You should just grab a recipe online and try to make it yourself. It's pretty simple.
The authentic places uses small (baby?) oysters. Some places just get the big ones and cut it up.

Thanks. I have seen some recipes online & they do look fairly simple, but I want to try the 'real' thing first to see if it's worth the effort.

I had a mussel omelette for dinner last night. It was Thai style, they serve it with a hot sauce. I've had the oyster version as well, both are pretty tasty. I have never had the Taiwan version so I don't know if they are the same, but the Thai version is always served with a kind of hot sauce.

No, it's more like 蚵仔煎 . We've tried it at Deli Viet (North York) and Ten Ren (Richmond Hill) but my wife says the night markets in Taiwan still serve them better.
Any suggestions were we can get good authentic Taiwanese meals in the GTA?
Places we've tried:
- Go For Tea (good)
- Deli Viet (okay)
- Ten Ren (limited selection)
- Metro Square Garden small restaurant beside Asian Legend

I had it at Deli Viet and I thought it wasn't very good there.
I had a good oyster omelette at Chiu Chow Boy (most of the food there was quite good). I'm not sure the difference between Taiwanese omelette and other styles of omelette but I have this dish quite often at many Chinese restaurants around town. I would say that most Chinese restaurants have a version of this oyster omelette (at least the ones I go to).
One of the good ones I had recently was at Sun Star (finch, west of leslie) and the restaurant on Shephard and Mcnicoll (forgot the name, its a corner restaurant).

You might also want to try it in a Thai restaurant. It's called "hoi todd".
It is orgasmic.
