Further details: you get two separate girft cards ($20 and $50), the $20 gift card expires December 24th, and it costs $1.50 for the gift card.

Nice deal, I’m not sure why they can charge $1.50. What do they claim that’s for?

That seems very quick for the $20 GC expiration.. seems like you have to use it on the day off buying both gift cards.

According to Consumer Protection Ontario:

Gift cards from shopping malls

Special rules apply to shopping mall gift cards. These are cards sold by the mall and can be used at stores in the mall.

The shopping mall can charge an activation fee up to $1.50 at the time the card is purchased.

Shopping mall gift cards keep their value for 15 months from the date of purchase. The mall can apply a dormancy fee after 15 months up to a maximum amount of $2.50 per month.

You can request a 3-month extension before dormancy fees are charged, by contacting the shopping mall card supplier during the 15th month after purchase of the shopping mall gift card. If you get an extension, dormancy fees can’t be charged for an additional 3 months.

The fees and conditions must be clearly printed on the shopping mall gift card. Read and understand the terms and conditions before you purchase a shopping mall gift card.

My girlfriend and I went to Tanger today and picked up $140 in gift cards.

We each paid $51.50 and got $70 in gift cards (one $50 and the 2nd one $20).

Staff at the Tanger customer service desk explained to us that both the $50 card and $20 card never expire.

Also, you can get a free coupon book with purchase of a gift card (check the gift card flap) which has coupons for most of the stores there (usually costs $5)

My wife was told the same thing today, however if you look at the back of the card, it actually shows expiry of 12/24..
