I don't think that's correct, in the example you use you will still get Simplii bonus interest (in March) for the $10K which was eligible in December only.
Quite possible. I might be using their term "average daily closing balance during the Offer Period" too literally. But as it's typed, I wouldn't be surprised, since the average over the period I put in the example is 0.

did anyone got a phone call from Tangerine reps during late December? They called me, but i wasn't able to pick up. They left me a voicemail saying that got a special rate for me. I didn't bother to call back as it might be lower than the 2.5% being offered now. So anyone know what rate was being offered? thanks.

I can 100% confirm that PC bank has always used the average. So if the average value drops below the initial balance then you don't get any bonus. That is why they need to wait until the end of the promotional period to compute the bonus interest.

Can't recall if they had anything in December...however these are some of the promotions they had in 2017

April 2017 3.04%
July 2017 2.90%
Oct 2017 2.75%

only new deposit will be counted towards the promotion and balance must be above statement from Jan 2nd (day they took a snapshot) to be valid.

I can transfer money out and immediately redeposit it right to make it "new money"?

Bummer... looks like I can't according to the terms and conditions:

“Additional Interest” is 1.50%. During the Offer Period, the Bank will calculate Additional Interest for new deposits to Applicable Accounts each time the sum of the daily balances in each Applicable Account exceeds the corresponding Applicable Account Type balance as at January 2, 2018 to a maximum of $500,000 per Applicable Account Type (“Eligible Deposits”). Additional Interest will only apply to net new Eligible Deposits that raise the Applicable Account Type balance above the January 2, 2018 balances, and the balances in an Applicable Account Type that are equal to or less than the Applicable Account Type balances as at January 2, 2018 will not earn Additional Interest.

I wonder if you anyone could have an experience with Tangerine approach to joint accounts:
I have a joint saving account with my wife (2% negotiated rate until end of March), and she has her own saving account (1% interest rate). She received and accepted the offer. I didn't receive anything.
If at the start of period we had 10 000k on joint, will it be a part of HER snapshot? Will it still continue to earn 2%?
if I add new money to joint account, will we get 2.5% on that?
thank you.

You get 2.5% on the number of days you had 50, and 2.5% on the 40 (after you withdrew the 10). Doesn't matter what you started with, you get the bonus on the incremental funds you have above your Jan 2 balance.

My wife got that call on December 23rd I think it was.

Guy left a message saying he was off work 'til the 28th

We called him back and the offer was 2.5% for 6 months

Turned it down - imagine you would have heard the same

How do you deposit a certified cheque to Tangerine of $50K?
I once deposited a $10K cheque by visiting their cafe, and I confirmed the balance the very next day online.
