Tangerine promo - 2% one year USD GICs

Pretty good deal for USD. And USD savings account now pays 0.6% interest. Pathetic but better than the 0.25% it was paying for ages.

lol these guys in Canada always try to screw us. US banks are now paying 1.85% at least on deposits. And you don't actually have any insurance on your USD if something ever were to happen.

Yeah they changed it on August 8. I put 2k in a 1 year GIC

On a side note CIBC finally has a decent rate on their US account too.. Went from 0.01 to 0.25 which is the same as RBC.

HSBC tends to have GIC offers for USD pretty often. In July they had 1 year at 2.55%.
If you did not switch to the $60 10GB plan when everyone else did you are not a true RFD'er 😝

EFT? Otherwise you could just get cash and move it yourself or wire it but it'll cost you money.

if you have discount brokerage account that you can purchase mutual fund free of charge, CIB483 (U.S. money market) is paying 2.13% right now and there is no lock-up like GIC

TDDI, RBCDI and I assume CIBC IE (after all it's their fund). I would assume any big bank's would and it's no load (no commission). though I think minimum amount is $1K

CIB483 is not a guaranteed return. It's a money market fund that has not done well in the last 3 months. What makes you say this is better than the Tangerine 2% GIC?

Because I’m getting roughly 2.13/12% every month when I park my money there

Canadian Western Bank (for those in Western Canada)... Has good rates on USD Gics at the moment.. Up to 2.70% on a 5 year GIC.

went to my local bmo and told them I am going to move to Trangerine. After a few mins of the manager calling the head office, I was able to get 2.5% on USD GIC.
