There are ways to skip or eliminate annual fee.
Some of us have TD accounts that waive annual fee and supplementary card fees.
Banking mostly based on credibility and negotiations which may includes fees, commissions, rates, etc.
Just few on top of my head and I bet others may add more.

Anyway of dodging the $50 to add an extra user?

I'd avoid TD. The cbc article on how they treat their staff and forcing promos on their customers was pretty horrifying.

Unfortunately, you would avoid all other big banks as well. It will be naive to think that only happens with TD.

There is another thread with a link for 30k pts without the annual fee for the 1st year.

new-td-aeroplan-offer-25k-offer-starts- ... h-2085220/

TD link
Edit: The TD link does offer FYF. For some reason I thought I saw Mar 4 and thought, damn, it already expired LOL I need another coffee
Right now there's no FYF unless you have an All-inclusive account. GCR and Greedy...rates do not have a newer offer with FYF.

Agreed, Wells Fargo in US was one of them and I bet TD is not the only banks forcing their staff/clients for promos, new accounts, etc.

Ummm...yes there is. Here's the link for first year free
http://www.tdcanadatrust.com/products-s ... Code=Sb6l9
Thanks for the correction. I thought I read Mar 4 and not May 4 (hey I was off by 1 character) ... either I need my eyes checked again or another stronger coffee LOL

Here's the T&C for the FYF:

3 To receive the Primary Cardholder Annual Fee rebate for the first year, you must apply for a TD Aeroplan Visa Infinite Card Account ("Account") through the link on this website between March 6, 2017, and May 4, 2017. Annual Fee will be reversed within 2 monthly statements from the date of the charge. Annual Fee for any Authorized User Cards added to the Account continue to apply. Annual Fee rebate does not apply to the TD Aeroplan Visa Platinum Card offer. Existing TD Aeroplan Cardholders are not eligible for this offer. Offer may be changed, withdrawn or extended at any time and cannot be combined with any other offer unless otherwise indicated. This offer is not transferable.

even if your not going to redeem for flights which is where aeroplan value is... 30K points is still equal to $300 in gift cards...
