I called in to cancel my card which I activated last year through RFD. They cancelled my card and also told me I could re-apply with the same offer. 10 minutes later I've been approved for the same card with 15k signup bonus, 10k bonus miles after $1000/90 days, First year annual fee rebate. They could even see that I've signed up for the bonus miles 4 times now. Guess there is no longer a grace period to cancel/re-sign anymore. Go nuts people!
Did you completely cancel the card or did downgrade it? Do you think a downgrade then reupgrade would work for this offer? I'd like to keep this card as it has a long credit history

If you're applying for this, be aware that Air Canada has just announced they're pulling out of Aeroplan in 2020. They're going to launch their own rewards program.

No timeline on using up points (sounds like you can still use them after 2020 - although probably at worse rates) but it may not be the best time to start collecting Aeroplan points...

So, now what to do? I'll hold onto my TD Aeroplan Visa until the end of the year, but I'll be actively looking for a viable replacement. Maybe the Avion card that RBC just offered....

Why would a termination of Air Canada offerings in 3 years change your mind about applying for a card you may only keep for 1 year?

Apply, get the points and cancel.

Because some people save up points rather than getting a few and using them right away. If you're trying to save up for a large trip, this probably isn't the best way/time to do that.

On the other hand, there is no alternative right now. AC hasn't released their new program yet, so if you have to fly with AC, aeroplan is the only program they have.
I'm sure anyone can plan for a vacation (even a short haul trip) within 3 years time.

Has anyone applied for the Secondary User card for 5,000 AP points after receiving the main card?

What is the fee for the Secondary User card?

How long did it take to get the points?

I had an interesting conversation with a TD CSR... I called in and told them I heard about your promo for aeroplan points for the aeroplan card. They told me you mean the 50k points plus 10k if you spend $1000 in the first three months for the platinum card?

I said ya that one. lol..

It's an $89 annual fee. So an extra 30k in points for $89 bucks... seems worth it...

Note: I can't find this advertised ANYWHERE, so either the rep made a mistake or it's something internal they have access to. I've made a note of the details in case i'm not credited. I'll let you guys know what happens.
