It's not that hot.

CPU is $349
MB is $298
Memory 2x$179
HD ~$110

Total: 1105$.. Now you have $150 free to buy a better Case/PSU (ultra is junk!)

This is normal price (not sale) while searching pricecanada.com. I'm sure it's possible to find cheaper. Pricematch everything at NCIX, get the $10 Gift card for free shipping and forget TD.

At least crysis will finally run smoothly

P.S. you would need to put down some green for a decent video card too

This is a piece of crap CAS 9 DDR3-1333 kit. It's considerably less than $360. It's roughly $120 per 6GB kit, do a search online and you'll find them easily.

RAM $240
P6T $300
HDD $100
Case $80
PSU $80 (although neither of these two are actually worth $80, you could get better ones elsewhere at this price)
i7 920 $320

Total $1120. Not a good deal.

That means nothing. First of all, this is an Ultra LSP series PSU, which is not NEARLY as good as the Ultra X3 series. And besides, all that sticker means is that it is likely they are rebranding models that can actually output 750 watts. Had they been rebranding one of their worse PSU series, I'd agree with you.

Some people do actually use their computers for more productive things, you know.

cheaper. add RAM accordingly...
Can't overclock that. Pointless comparison.

Can't PM this, only TD carries Ultra PSUs and cases. Besides, NCIX already has most of the stuff listed for considerably cheaper.

I would advise you not to sound too cocky when you don't know what you are talking about.

I have 6GBs on my i7 rig. It's enough for gaming and most apps, but not for heavy duty video editing and Photoshop.

Say what? I'm running 24GB of FB-DIMMs on my X7DWA-N, which I use to its full capacity as a RAM disk, scratch disk, and general software applications (ie. Illustrator).

So what do you do?

Fail. You didn't even prove him wrong. You shouldn't open your mouth if you're not prepared to argue. At least provide reasoning why you think he's wrong.

Having said that, 12GB is way too much for even the most hardcore enthusiast, 6GB is nicer considering the prices of DDR3 at the moment. Oh, and dealing with Tigerdirect is a minus.
Deal with it.

If ram is cheap, just stuff it as much as you can. For ddr2 systems, try stuff 16 gig of ram into it, same idea with ddr3 systems.
