So I just did a random booking YUL/YVR on non-stop flights (with AC, obviously).
Comparing 25K and $167 taxes on Aeroplan, with a revenue fare for the same flights, at $652.
So the points saved me $485, thus the 25K are worth 1.9cpm. So I agree, no effort really, and can get close to 2cpm.

I haven't flown business class on domestic/transborder AC/UA in years...just doesn't have the same oomph as other carriers on longer international segments. I have been saving my Aeros for those longer redemptions, but now in retrospect, I probably should have just burned them on local flights too, instead of waiting for them to potentially rot away while the AC/AP situation progresses. Now I'm just waiting a few more months so I can make a couple more big mini-RTWs in business class, and burn the pile down to ashes. :D

Can you given an example of a flight between montreal and Vancouver where you are getting 2.5cpm? I've never seen those so I am wondering if you are factoring in taxes. I get it about holiday dates, but never seen those for normal dates.
Take January 19-23 as an example It's $650 from Montreal to Vancouver and far from the cheapest date as there are as cheap as $520 for other dates. On aeroplan it's 25K+$162tax. 640-162=$478/25,000=1.9cents.
I've been booking that route fairly often and when you're < 3 weeks in advance the cash fares are closer to $800+, < 2 weeks it climbs to $1000, and < 1 week to $1200 roughly. This summer I booked a $879 flight for the usual 25k + $162, thanksgiving last month was $770, Xmas last year at $900, etc. I've done a mini-RTW at 7cpm ($6600 cash ticket for 90k + $360) also. But I know that's very specific and shouldn't be indicative of usual Aeroplan value for most people who want to use their points on busy holiday routes and so on.

the way i work out the value of pts is to find the "easiest and most available redemption" value and use that as a general guide ... if one is willing to time the redemption and look out for better deal ... one can potentially obtain much better value ... it all depends on how much effort one is willing to put in ... :)

one of the most valuable aspect of the aeroplan is the ability to have long stop over and also open jaw flight ... this allows me to visit "layover" places ...
for example, i could fly from yvr -> yqb -> yyz -->yvr for the same number of pts as yyz --> yvr --> yyz ...

Did your final $1K post by Oct 31st? Or was it still pending? If the latter than you probably need to wait for the next bonus-awarding event date, which for now I'm "assuming" is the month end. I am so new to this card's program, I don't know if that's truly the case or not. Seems to be, since many of us who had spent $1K back in Sep, finally saw the 30K posting by the afternoon of Oct 31st.

For the annual fee rebate, no waiting as it comes right at the first statement, along with the $120 fee. Reported it here: td-first-class-visa-infinite-td-first-c ... #p28337448

Thanks for your feedback. A 90K mini-RTW was probably a business class redemption to Europe 1, booked prior Dec 15, 2016, am I right? That's when the Euro1-Biz increased to now 110K. Or was that a true globetrotting-circumnavigating mini-RTW in economy class to Asia 2?

I'm going to guess it was the Euro 1 in business, because I've done that a couple of times too, and taxes were similar, $330-$390. The number of airports and countries you add to the itinerary balloons the final taxes/fees, so it's hard to get one of these below $250 taxes.

I then put on the rose-colored glasses and used flights.google.ca to price up the business class revenue fare at $4K-$6K. But then I asked myself, if I had the exact same ticket (with 2 additional stopovers) purchased in economy for say $1500, how much would I really TRULY pay to move from economy to front of the cabin (given that most of those intra-European flights are just greyhound buses in the sky with no special biz class luxuries).

For me, I might truly be willing to upgrade from economy to business for say an extra $1000, maybe even $1500, so instead of $6K my realistic wallet price for the tickets are more like $3000, so without those glasses on, the value is more like 3.5cpm instead of 6cpm. Which is still really GREAT, and much more than I could ever expect with churning this thread's FCT points. (see how I put this back on topic?).

For me....I reached 1000 just before the 31st and the 30k posted the same calendar month end. So I am pretty sure you will get it next month end.

So, I got the 30k points already (for 1k purchase), but not the 20k sign up bonus.

Do they post 20k when statement is generated ?
