A close friend has brought to my attention a difference in the quoted price online versus the price given to her when she actually called and purchased a policy.

The online quote came it at about $80 taxes in for home insurance but the rep said it would be $100 for the same policy.

It is rare for any online insurance quote will match the actual.

That happened to me with a car insurance quote. The difference there was that the online quote was the bare minimum (so they can show you a low number and get you interested), but then when you call they include extra coverage by default, and you have to ask to have it removed. (By extra coverage I don't mean a lower deductible, but additional features like the "Grand Touring Solution", among other things).
