MSI Radeon R7 260X OC $114 (b4 $20 IR and $20 MIR)

Deal Link:
Price:
$114
Expiry:
November 4, 2014
MSI just went on sale at TD for $114
http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/ ... -102014580

Now with a $20 IR and $9 S&H its comes to $117 shipped and taxed.

MSI have a 1 week $20 MIR that started today (ends Nov 4) which brings the card even down to $97 all in.

Go through GCR for 2.5% cashback to cover mailing the MIR.

Comes with 2 AAA games from AMD's silver reward tier

I don't do that much GPU intensive PC gaming, just wanted something to do the few GMG titles that were recently on sale, an R7 240 would probably fit the bill but for the price difference its a worthy upgrade.

No, you most likely won't get better performance over your current setup.

I managed to get the R9 280 3GB from MSI for 187 $ , plus a 20 $ rebate which I might or might not get. ( If I do get the rebates, it means that the card costed me roughly 170 $) Now the problem is that I gave it away as a gift. Anyone think there will be better deals by December - January ? Or I made a mistake giving it away ?

I hope to be able to get someone's opinion on a rig I plan on building soon. Since, the video card is the only component I have been struggling to make a choice on, I thought it might be fitting to ask here about some opinions. Keep in mind, I want to make a budget/value oriented rig. I am not a heavy gamer by any means, and I might not even game long term on it, so that's why I don't want to splurge on a video card. However, I do want to get the best value I can.

I want to play CS GO and Dota 2 @ 1080P on the highest settings with average 70+ fps. I would also like to play BF4 @ 1080P at avg 70+fps, but the highest settings would not be necessary and wouldn't be feasible for my budget.

I was thinking of getting the following:

-FX 6300 and Asrock 970 Extreme bundle ($169 after MIR at Newegg)
- 2 x 4GB G-SKILL Ripjaws ($80 at DirectCanada)
-Kingston V300 120GB SSD (I already have a brand new one lying around)
-1TB 7200 RPM (WD or Seagate - $50-60)
-600+W EVGA or Corsair Bronze PSU (~$60)
- Thermaltake Overseer Case (already have it from the amazon.ca price error)

Would this R7 260X be sufficient for my needs?
Any other little changes you guys can recommend to this rig that would add more value for a few extra dollars?

The mobo supports crossfire, and in the event I need a performance boost down the road, I can always add another one and have a very budget-oriented crossfire setup.

Edit: I found some benchmarks for an r7 260x crossfire setup, specifically for BF4 @ 1080P on Ultra Settings:

MIN FPS: 61
AVG FPS: 100

Don't need to buy now but considering this and the 750Ti. Not a gamer. I'm slowly buying the parts for a build I'd like to do in December Should I wait until Black Friday for better deals?

What PSU would be needed if I intended to run 2 monitors, not really for gaming though? Noticed there is a 6 pin connector to PSU.

these numbers ... tempted to get another one (and I don't even game :) ) good thing the MIR is one per household.

most of the numbers I saw for the 260x OC were around 130W @ idle and below 300W at full load (thats whole system consumption).

btw, the $20 TD generic coupon will expire tonight.

will need a 450 PSU for average system?
450 PSU matches what is recommended by AMD for this card, that said, 113W additional consumption seems to be accurate enough, so check your current/target system and add 113W on top of that.
