Best Buy Gift Cards are still a terrible deal, $75 for 20,000 points. Redeeming for travel would get you $100 worth.
EDIT: Same thing with the iPad, MSRP $849, but you need $1000 worth of points.Last edited by HappyDaze; Oct 15th, 2012 at 10:10 AM.

i agree.. which means these "deals" are really not so great .......... BUT if you have the points and are not travelling ... why not use them ...

That's what I mean and it's just the nature of rewards programs. All of them are like that. Am I gonna use my points for GC redemption? hell no cuz I travel but it's nice to have an option. Anyways to each their own.
Today's deal is done which means we're getting closer towards the Zenbook. Pretty stoked about it =) I know that there will be other exciting things available as well ie. Wii U.

If you have the points and can't use it for travel and end up using on redeeming gift cards, you get the wrong card in the first place. It's also very unlikely though, every one has travel expense once in a while.

Not everyone gets the card just for travel. If you do the math, $75 back @ 3pts/$1, its actually more than 1% cash back. You're actually spending 6667 (rounded) to get back $75 working out to 1.125% (75/[20000/3] * 100) cash back (vs 1.5% if you use it for travel). Of course thats assuming you're getting B2G1F on a GC @ a place you'll spend money regardless. On top of getting bonus points when signing up. Either way, if its > 1%, its the best card to use @ quite a few places (namely ones that smart cash doesn't cover) unless you count cards with an annual fee.
Of course the best way to spend the point is filling up gas South of the border as that counts as "travel". You do pay a currency exchange fee but you still end up getting the best bang for your buck if you don't really travel and live close to the border. In theory you could even use it in a different city and claim the gas (never tried given the insane gas prices in BC vs Bellingham).
